AI and Turn Limit

Post by SteveD64 »

Hello, if I decide to reduce the number of turns for a game against the AI will it react accordingly? For instance, in the last game I played the AI developed a cavalry attack on my left around turn 18. If I shorten the game to 18 or 20 turns will the AI speed up it's attacks in order to get them in before the game ends?

Only if it wasn’t planning to attack straight away. I don’t have the game code to hand, but IIRC the turn on which it may decide to attack despite any perceived disadvantage is based on the total turn limit. So it will still have less turns to develop its attack, but the diffierence will perhaps be halved.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if the AI was optimized for 24 turns and I don't want to handicap it. The cavalry attack on my left was devastating for me and won the game for the AI - it was something to see and I don't want to lose that aspect.
