AI.

Post by stormbringer3 »

I think that the AI in this game is one of the best that I've seen. I do have an opinion for an improvement. Way too often the Warrior units of the smaller nations attack the Romans in open terrain giving the already powerful Roman units the advantage in that battle. I think that the AI should take the Warriors and and fortify then on forests etc. where they have an advantage. This might help the smaller nations last a little longer against the Romans.
This is a great game!

Hello stormbringer3,
thank you for this post. I absolutely agree with you on this but there is also another side of the coin. We discussed similar topic here (especially the "second point")

Thanks for the quick reply and the link. One other possibility is to have the AI of the smaller nations have a more defensive attitude vs. the Romans. It seems to me that they attack way too much losing units they can't replace.

Sounds like the way Gauls used to attack the Romans. I read Caesar's books, and Gauls attacked the Romans over & over with reckless abandon despite getting chopped down in great numbers. Of course Caesar probably embellished his books to make his Roman troops sound more powerful and increase his glory. I'm not sure if barbarians were disciplined enough to remain long in a defensive position. Anyways, sorry for my unwanted and utterly needless muddying of this thread.
