Which DLC ?
Hi, I'm new at FOG2. I used to play FOG years ago so I decided to buy FOG2. So far so good ! Furthermore, my tight budget allows me for another 10$ Christmas present. Was considering one DLC.
What do you think ? Is it a good idea ? If yes, which one would you recommend ?
Thank you !

Re: Which DLC ?
Definitely a Dlc that overlaps with the base game: Either Immortals or Legions.
Immortals have Persians, Alexander and his Successor Wars.
Legions have Imperial Rome and its many enemies.
If you like Hellenistic Armies and/or Persians: Immortals!
If you like Later Romans and/or Barbarians: Legions!

Many thanks for this answer ! Very usefull ! I like barbarians and the fall of the Empire so Legions looks good !sIg3b wrote: ↑Sat Dec 22, 2018 6:19 pm Definitely a Dlc that overlaps with the base game: Either Immortals or Legions.

When you say "definitely a Dlc that overlaps with the base game" you mean in terms of time period I guess. Why is it important ?
Re: Which DLC ?
Because -I think!- you would otherwise end up with a handful of loose strings -armies with some of their historical enemies missing.
I may be wrong!, but I believe you get the most out of your money when buying Dlcs adjacent to your timeline.

Immortal Fire is great. That would be my choice.

Re: Which DLC ?
Age of Belisarius is worth considering too if you like lots of lancer cavalry heavy armies and warbands (Franks, etc.).
Although I agree Legions is one of the more versatile DLCs so far. Strong later Roman lists and more barbarians combined with a number of solid Epic Battles. I think Legions is a good one for MP players to pick up especially since a lot of folks play ancients to fight battles b/w Rome and its enemies. If you play a lot as the Romans this DLC is a obvious good one to pick up as it give you more options to play Rome in a different timeframe.
I tend to think the Epic Battle scenarios included with Legions and Belisarius feature somewhat more interesting setups and tend to be a tad better designed then the Immortal Fire ones.
The highlights of Immortal Fire are arguably the earlier Roman lists and the Alexander (Macedonian) list. I also really liked the Seven Hills of Rome campaign in this DLC. I got it initially thinking the Greco-Persian Wars battles and armies were going to be the chief highlight for me given that I like that period/conflict. However, I actually tend to recommend Immortal Fire more for the other things it includes in addition to the Persian / Greek matchup specifically.
Rise of Persia has something to offer if you like Chariot and massed basic infantry (spear/bow/sword, usually quantity over quality) based armies. The mixed missile and melee capable Assyrians are pretty darn neat and the 3D models for the various chariots are also a lot of fun to see on the digital battlefield.
To summarize, all of the DLCs have been pretty good so far but if I had to choose Legions is probably the one I would go for if I had to choose just one.

Re: Which DLC ?
Definately get a dlc, my order of preference would be:
Immortal Fire
Legions Triumphant
Rise of Persia
(these three all pretty close together in value)
and Age of Belisarius a distant 4th - it just doesn't have the same level/amount of content as the other three in my opinion.

Thanks to all of you guys, great comments ! I already purchased Legions but I think I can unblock another 10 bucks from my tight budget, so let's be Immortal !

I made a prime rib roast using our sous vide cooker and it turned out awesome. Of course it is too rare for my wife's squeamish family so I have extra if you want to swing by.nukkxx5058 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 12:10 pmThat's the positive way to look at it ! Eating ? what for ? Re: Which DLC ?
You can still play Belisarius content even without owning. Just accept any multiplayer game which uses its armies or scenarios. You won’t be able to set up your own though.nukkxx5058 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 11:19 am I must be crazy. I also purchased Immortal and Persia. Any direct internet play or turns are too long to play for it ?
