Problem downloading our charts for the FOG2DL
I am experiencing problems trying to transfer some of our charts from Dropbox to the forum. I am guessing that the size of the transfer is the issue. Anything under 1.0 MB seems to work OK, but anything over 1.0 MB will not transfer. Am I right about this? Has the size limit been reduced recently as some of these charts have been successfully shown on the forum in the past. We are now trying to put them in our archive thread without success. Thanks.

Hi Pete,
I don't know what the limit is, but you can easily make your image files smaller by saving them as .jpg with less than 100% fidelity. This can easily be done in a free paint program such as paint.net.
I would also note that the first chart in the thread you link is only 77k, so heaven only knows why the ones you are currently trying to upload are more than 1.0 Mb.

Shrinking the image files is good "internet hygiene" as it will speed up the loading time of the thread.
For example the Classical Antiquity chart for season 3 is a 772K .jpg,
but saving it at 75% fidelity reduces it to 213 K, and it still looks like this: (Probably it could be saved at 50% fidelity, which would shrink the file even more, without becoming any less readable)

Thanks Richard. I will have a look at this tomorrow. The problem is only with the Themed Event charts that have pictures with them that take them over 1.0 MB. The purely text league tables and result grids all stay under 1.0 MB even when full. So we will look at this shrinking idea for the Themed event stuff.

It is not easy for me as I haven't a clue what to do. I have got the Themed Event chart in Dropbox so do I edit from there? If so, which precise steps should I follow please? The charts originate in Creately and then are exported to my PC and I put them on DropBox. Thanks.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 5:18 pm Hi Pete,

1) Download and install paint.netstockwellpete wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 1:24 pmIt is not easy for me as I haven't a clue what to do. 2) Open your .png file in paint.net (You can do this from DropBox or from your machine as you prefer).
3) Save as .jpg. When you do so it lets you reduce the fidelity from 100%. Try 75%.

Re: Problem downloading our charts for the FOG2DL
My Malware anti-bytes says that paint website is dodgy and has blocked it. Something about PUP's and other things being bundled in with it. Then there is something about managing exclusions which, again, I haven't got a clue about. It would be easier for me just to type the results out and it would probably be quicker too. So unless Anders understands what this is all about I am going to give it a miss. Thanks anyway, Richard.

Re: Problem downloading our charts for the FOG2DL
Miracles!
I have managed to do it. Anders said he had no issues with downloading paint.net so I tried again. Initially, it was trying to bundle it with something called "Brave", which claims to do all sorts of wonderful things for your PC. But then, by chance, I found a download link for paint.net that had nothing attached to it as far as I could see so I downloaded from there. I have version 4.1.5 of paint.net now so I assume that is the latest one? The simple procedure works OK so thanks very much for that Richard. I think our problem should be solved now.
