Campaign: ditches

Post by TheGrayMouser »

I was playing the Ashurbanipal camapign and in battle three my intel indicated I was grossly outnumbered by the Elamites and suggested I dig in. I was surprised when I actually got the ditches to cower behind. Had never had that happen yet. Any way, the ai still treated it like a standard open battle and just sat there waiting fo me to come to him. I get that it is advantageous to the ai to not attack, numbers not withstanding, yet seems like a waste to have a unique battle type that you need to abandon( by leaving the ditches). I did try to provoke the ai to attack but there’s not much provoking power with 3-4 light foot and lh archer or two vs a wall of medium archers and hordes of light chariots :D I’m not sure how common this scenario is , or If this particular case the ai just decided to hang back. Anyone else have experienced this ?

I've not played this campaign but I have generally found that the AI will start attacking if you just sit pat for a handful of turns.

it is consistent with my experience. ai doesnt consider much about the ditch. Plus, I found ai likes to charge the chariot frontally.
