hastati/principes and armour question

Post by lapdog666 »

in game there are Hastati/principes and veteran hastati/principes units

now what does that means in game

Is that one piece of unit Hastati/principes mix of principes and hastati? like 240 hastati 240 principes

then why Veteran Hastati/Principes have Armoured status while Non veterans have Some armour

aslo what does Some armour means , does it mean that some Men in the unit have armour , while those who have Protected Status have only shield and helmets ?

i cant figure out what it means

Yes.

Roman legionaries of this period supplied their own armour if they could afford it. The preferred armour was a mail shirt. Those who couldn't afford a mail shirt were issued with a small square breastplate that did not cover much of the chest.

We assume that Veterans would have had more opportunity to acquire better armour as spoils of war.

It usually means that some men have armour sufficient to qualify as "Armoured" and some don't. It's an average. See above.
