With Swifter than Eagles not far off and as I have no early army I have been looking at Assyrians.
Museum are offering a good deal at the moment and I was wondering how they would mix with Essex.
I know that Museum figures can vary greatly in size. So has anyone seen the Museum Assyrians?
Do they, especially the chariots, mix well with Essex or any other manufactures for that matter?
Thanks

The Museum Miniatures Assyrians are pretty decent looking in my opinion (I'm in the process of painting up a couple of bases worth), although the characteristically stubby and bowed legs on most Essex 15's make them just a hair shorter overall. If you use skirmies from one brand and a main battle line from the other, it should look great, but I probably wouldn't want to mix certain figures in the same battle group, where the minor height difference and larger change in body/leg proportions would be most noticable. I haven't seen the chariots, so I don't know how well they'd fit in.

my old assyrians were the same.ethan wrote:My biblicals are a mix of Chariot and Essex. I highly recommend chariot for the actual chariots as they are much more reasonably sized. Both are pretty good on the infantry front, but probably on balance I would go with Chariot (or a mix).
made for a nice army. especially the chariots themselves.
essex cavalry are less spindly than chariot, but only have that one *stupid* army position.
I'll put an order in for Museum. At least half an army's worth. Then I'll take it from there.
Maybe Donnington would be compatible - if they do Assyrians.
Its nice to get a mix of different figures. I have quite a few Chariot figures, too many with broken off spears, standards etc. So I won't be getting any more off those. At least Essex are fairly robust, the problem with those is lack of surface area on the bases which makes it difficult to get them to adhere to their element bases!
