Graphics Issue with Thracian Armored Noble Cav

Post by 76mm »

I'm currently playing as Thracian, and there seems to be a graphics problem with the Armored Noble Cav, they are kind of a neon blue color:

The other Thracian troops are a bit colorful, but not quite like this! Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Alex,

The Romano British Light Horse is a known problem, I will fix it in the next update, which will be very soon.

There should be no problem with the Thracian Heavy Cavalry. I have just checked my copy of the mod, and they work fine. I can only assume that your download of the Mod maybe be slightly corrupt. You could try downloading again, or wait for the new update.

I'm not using the TT mod, or any other mod.

Sorry 76mm, Alex's post confused me. So these Armoured Noble Cavalry are the standard game type, that is very odd. They are looking okay on my copy of the game. I will have to leave this for RBS to answer.

This is what happens when the game cannot find the texture.

Either your game installation is corrupt, or you are playing against someone who has modded their main build. Another possibility is if you were using a saved game, originally created while a mod was in force.

I've never used any of the mods. I've asked my opponent about what mods he's using, so we'll see.

Also, while I moved my Windows "Documents" folder recently, all of the other units look normal, so it would seem odd for it to be related to that?

Could I also suggest that you try SP Thracian vs Thracian battles and see if the cavalry show correctly? If so, the problem lies with the particular MP game instance, and therefore possibly your opponent’s build.

If he has added extra textures for the Armoured Noble Cavalry, the program may have assigned those to the units when the battle was set up, but as you don’t have them in your vanilla build, they cannot be found at your end, hence the “missing texture” appearance of your units.

Because it does not alter the scripts, such a mod would not trigger the “scripts changed” warning, nor would it affect gameplay. However it has unsurprisingly caused you some concern, so is another example of why people should not play MP with modded main builds. And, of course, why people should not mod their main build at all. The game has a perfectly good modding system that is specifically designed so that it isn’t necessary to mod the main build.
