Defensive Spearmen

Would one of the wise be able to give a definition for this unusual (and seemingly rare) unit please?

Their tactic is staying put and wait for the enemy to charge their wall of spears (think medieval anti-cavalry). As opposed to offensive spearmen who actively push forward (hoplites).

Thank you, that helps, I'm thinking of modding a few levy troops (classical greek urban and rural levies who are unarmoured but equipped with spear ie:lower than hoplite class spearmen) and I was thinking that this might be a better role than just using a mob
