Re: Market-Garden feedback
Oh man, this is hard one. We want the paratroopers to be able to hold against stronger enemy not to be able to hold because they are stronger than the enemy.
Right now efficiency is one of the main problems. When outnumbered and surrounded paras can never regain efficiency even if you have a ton of requisition and ressuply like mad. This is a numbers game and the side that can rotate low tier units will always beat down elites that are locked in constant fight.
Ideal scenario example where it is possible for weaker forces to defend against stronger enemy is Papua-New Guinea (and it's balanced perfectly there I might add). Market-Garden have different terrain and landscape though and we cannot "invent" chokepoints if there aren't any.
Only slider we can move without affecting historical accuracy and buffing para numbers to absurd is air dominance. Perhaps if cut drastically (and I mean drastically) for German side and beefed even more for Allies side (especially with bombers and ground support planes) it can swing the balance in the direction we would like?

Re: Market-Garden feedback
Here are some changes I plan for the next version.
Reduce German unit experience on various units.
Remove certain German odd units (Sicherheit, Werkstatt etc).
Consolidate German flak into fewer units.
Move German tank reinforcements to the east map edge.
Reduce "Kriegsmarine garrison"/Luftwaffe resource income from 5 pr air unit (like the Allies) to 1 pr air unit. Luftwaffe launched a couple of large air strikes, so I'd like to keep these.
Edit: scenario updated to 1.4

Re: Market-Garden feedback
Replaced German Garrison infantry units with MG nests to avoid a number of weak units milling about on the battlefield.
Scenario updated to 1.5

Re: Market-Garden feedback
That's actually a great idea as it reinforces the idea of garrison units protecting towns ( instead of leaving their towns at first chance and converging into a huge soviet-like army

Re: Market-Garden feedback
Any dedicated player want to test-drive this playing the Germans against your truly?
I have created a challenge with password erik.

Edgewalker
Arnhem is mine in the latest version. Grabbing it is maybe a tad easy now.

Re: Market-Garden feedback
Lost the Arnhem objective on turn 12 to German panzers.
This happened just as the first para unit from Nijmegen made contact with the Poles and Brits.
The US unit holds the south end of the bridge, but the paras north of the river will soon be no more.

Re: Market-Garden feedback
The secenario up to this point is well balanced.
First test therfore it is not easy to know which and when troops will come as reinforcements.
Need to update the counter strike according to that.
