Can anyone tell me please, is there an upper limit to the number of troop types permitted in an army?

I'm going to create a polyglot list of as many units as possible in order to experiment with appearance / formations / unit sizes etc and it would be easier for me to be able to merge as many types as possible purely for checking their appearance & testing their behaviour whilst moving, I'm guessing that there may be an upper limit of say 32 or 64 but i'd like confirmation before I start cobbling such an army together.

ALSO Ive noticed that some units (at 12 man size) behave like a disordered mob when moving, is this deliberate and governed by drill or is it a glitch?***

*** ADDENDUM, I should state that the first time i noticed this happen was when I implemented the callback.bsf file in the ME Mod

I think there’s no limit. But not sure how the purchase screen will be rendered for a very long list. Richard can confirm.

There used to be a hard limit of 64, but as far as I am aware this was removed. However, there can be issues loading too many different models, which can cause a hang. I would stick to no more than 64.

It isn't deliberate, but as the only units in the game with 12 figures are irregular, we have not tried to "fix" it as it enhances the impression of irregularity.

It would require an engine change to fix it, I think, as the mapping of positions as a unit moves is done by the engine. So I am afraid you will have to live with it if you mod regular units to have 12 men

For peoples information, altho I'm sure theyve already noticed, 14 men units behave as do 12's.
