Hi,
Do any of you know if it is possible to create a map in the in game editor and then use it in a battle ? From what I understand I can only either pick an army and play on a random map with or create a scenario, create the map and then manually placing the units from the two armies in the editor. Was it the same if FoG 1 ?
Another small question, what length an hex is supposed to be ?
Thank you very much !

I cant help with that but i can say with certainty that the game uses no hexes..... think of squares with 8 points of orientation (octagon style with just 4 sides though)

You can randomly generate a map in the Editor, but you have to place the units manually.bluth wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 1:10 pmDo any of you know if it is possible to create a map in the in game editor and then use it in a battle ? As far as I am aware FOG1 did not have true random map generation, the maps were picked from a fairly limited bank of predrawn maps. Was it the same if FoG 1 ?
As Tim says, they are squares, not hexes, and the answer is about 60 paces at the default representational scale.Another small question, what length an hex is supposed to be ?

Thanks for the answer guys ! So it is indeed not possible to manually create a map and then use the in game army generator to play a battle on it. That is weird though, it should not be too difficult to add.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:45 pmAs far as I am aware FOG1 did not have true random map generation, the maps were picked from a fairly limited bank of predrawn maps. Was it the same if FoG 1 ?
And yeah of course they are not hexes anymore but squares, I am still used to FoG 1.

The only games I know that allowed one to pick a pre made map for a random skirmish or campaign battle are the Steel Panthers games over at Shrapnel Games. So not weird really... it would be a nice addition though!bluth wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 3:21 pmThanks for the answer guys ! One can also do it in Battlefront's Combat Mission games.TheGrayMouser wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:56 pm The only games I know that allowed one to pick a pre made map for a random skirmish or campaign battle are the Steel Panthers games over at Shrapnel Games.

Yeah perhaps not that weird but technically it seems very easy to make, all the systems are already in place. Would be great to know if the dev intend to make it possible !TheGrayMouser wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:56 pm
