Post by cato13 »

is there any kind of character system in this game? im thinkin along the lines of having to manage generals loyalty etc.

There are various government types, each with their own effects. There are governmental actions and leadership actions related to many different aspects - state decisions and the army morale. There are no governmental bodies per se, like the Senate. Nor are there named leaders independent of unit command, ie no independent characters.

its a no buy for me then which is disappointing. for me thats one of the most interesting aspects of this era.

bit late now i guess but what was the thinking about not including any of that stuff? a rome game with no senate or character system is no rome game imo.

the game has 20 nations, so while the title says its Aggressors Ancient Rome, Rome is just one of many.

add in the custom ones, eg you can build and change the name of any of the 20, then Rome in the end just becomes part of a larger picture

please feel free to take a look at the wiki pages

but either way thanks for the feedback

yeah i know that as i've been following the game for a while. why not call it 'classical wars' or somethin more generic then?

you cant call a game 'aggressors ancient rome' and not lead people to believe that rome will be central to it. you've obviously went for rome in the title to pull people in but when people see that some of the things that made this era famous aren't in the game then those people ain't gonna buy.

the developer would be able to tell you more and be maybe more correct, for me, it was focused on the time period more than just a single faction, but when it came to alpha and then beta, it grew and become more of the sum of it's parts, so the first faction was and still is Rome, which most will play, while it's one of the easier factions as it was one of the most powerful at the time in the standard game, the game also does different periods when Rome wasn't so big and powerful as such and others came to the front and also again custom games and time frames to cover almost any period of the times

Hi Cato,
the name was decided a very long time ago. It refers to an expansion of Rome because this historical era can simply be called like that (from the historical point of view). It has never been meant to focus on Rome only.
