Malta beta-test

Post by Erik2 »

This scenario is part of an upcoming custom Afrika Korps campaign.
It is larger and a more complex than the other scenarios, hence the need for a beta-test.

You need to buy the Italian and German land units using this 'cheat':

#warbonds +- x
+- x resources

I suggest you add 4000 resources, buy and deploy units, remove all remaining resources and finally add say 100 resources.
There are second and third seaborne invasions where you need to repeat this process.

Seaborne and airborne examples (there are several other selectable seaborne deployment areas):
(sorry about the poor quality, I had to reduce the resolution drastically to be able to post the graphics.)

I'll download it tonight, and stay up late. Just got back into OoB and enjoying Sandstorm.

Thank you. Game running smoothly, invasion not so well. My own fault, but it makes for a good fight. Detailed report to follow.

First quick impression
Good intro - little cosmetics failure missing the nr on site 3/5.
In the first wave of deploying forces I would suggest adding 1 aircp to the Germans for pruchase/deploy a recon plane (or predeploy) and add one sea recon plane to the Kriegsmarine, do same to the Italien airforce.
It is a shame that Alpini and Bersaglieri infantry doesn't develops like the ordinaire infantry do, in mine opinion they should (note to myself use forgotten armies as a supplement).
Then I would allso suggest replacing one Stratetic Bomber the SM 79 (the 108 Gr) with the Piaggio P 108 (keep the same name: 108 Gr) and then replace the the old fighter CR 42 Falco (GR 158) with the Italian version of the Stuka (Picchiatello) in 96 GR and give the player oppertunity to purchase them as well.
Thats all for now - let the battle begin

Way too big for my taste. Like Denmark and Norway in the Grand Campaign, which I always skip. To be fair, I dont know if they are still too big as I haven´t played it in a while.

Why such a diversion from the original?

I played the original and thought is was way to small for my taste :D

My scenario is primarily based on the Italian Operazione C3 plan where the German would play a very minor role.
I like this plan more than Herkules. (I think this effort is the best of the 3 Malta scenarios I've done. for what its worth...)
But yes, it is a large scenario. You can always skip a scenario in a campaign. No big deal.

As long as big maps doesn´t interfere/distorts the overall core/RP development/progression of the overall campaign I dont mind a few extra in a long campaign.

The scenario map is close to 1:1 :D
I visited Malta a few years back. You can almost throw a stone across the island.
