Iraq – July 07 1944 (round 75) – Feldmarschall Rommel‘s command car
Victory in the desert is near. A brand new Tiger division has already reached Baghdad. Two weeks ago England has surrendered and it is only a matter of some days to end the war with the whole British Empire.
Stalingrad – July 07 1944 (round 75) – Feldmarschall Steiner’s command post
The Russians surprised with an attack of three tank divisions on Stalingrad from the east. But the tactical bombers and a Stug division handled the situation. There is no need to call back the Tigers or Panthers. Kuybyshev will be reached by the Wehrmacht soon.
Berlin – August 08 1944 (round 77) – Victory parade of the Wehrmacht
Generalfeldmarschall Werner, Feldmarschall Rommel, Feldmarschall von Stauffenberg and Feldmarschall Steiner celebrate the surrender of the Soviet Union and the British Empire from 06.08.1944.
Operation “unthinkable” was an outstanding success.

Thanks, well if you say so… you are welcome!GeneralWerner wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 2:32 pm Thank you PeteMitchell,
but it was your hint that made the difference. Avoiding the wall of steel at the Ostfront and allow the Red Army to gather many of their troops at Kursk realy makes it much easier to move in northern and southern Russia to the stratetgic targets at the Volga River.
And holding two oil fields early also helps a lot to avoid prestige stort cut. I could always do the important upgrades (newest fighter types, Stugs, Panther, infantry 44) in time having nearly no weakpoints in my front lines.
Nonetheless, you have brought it to the next level with your big encirclement in the East. In addition, it also takes a lot of skill in playing and practice to approach Leningrad, Tobruk, Egypt and Tunis (just to name a few) in the way you did...
Without this experience (also with the mod itself), it often becomes some kind of an art or just pure luck to know how many units you need where and when... There is a lot to learn from this AAR!
I am very curious to see what new (and hopefully even more dynamic) magic McGuba will create with the increased number of AI zones in future versions of this mod, e.g. it’s hypothetical but I am also not sure it is realistic (i.e. not historically correct) that the Red Army was planning “to pause” until the end of 1943 around Kursk in case of not being attacked (i.e. waiting for Operation Citadel).

Therefore, maybe some time after July 1943 (after turns 51/52) the Red Army should just advance west and push through the German defense lines (if any) at the Desna and Dnieper rivers (maybe with scripted bridge engineers), i.e. earlier in 1943 and with a massive tank army on a broad front line (vs. the typical AI lemming queue)…
Just some ideas for future mod development… then my hint might not work anymore…

Re: Battlefield Europe v1.9 – operation Unthinkable
Of course experience is important. I guess that nearly everybody playing this mod for the first time ends in the historical way.
I made a timeline
1941 - round 1-13
Capture Tobruk: round 11
1942 - round 14-38
Capture Moscow: round 19 – prestige boost
Capture Groznyy oil field: round 19 – provides 5800 prestige until end of game
Capture Malta: round 23 – prestige boost
Capture Baku oil field: round 26 – provides 5100 prestige until end of game
Capture Leningrad: round 28 – prestige boost
Land first troops in England: round 36
1943 - round 39-62
Capture London: round 47
Capture Archangelsk: round 49
Capture Cairo: round 50
Defeat Allies in Tunisia: round 62
1944 - round 63-86
Capture Stalingrad: round 70 – prestige boost
Capture Glasgow: round 72 – England surrenders – prestige boost
Capture the Caucasus: round 74 – prestige boost
Capture Basra and Basra oil field: round 75
Capture Kuybyshev: round 77 – Soviet Union surrenders – prestige boost
Capture Baghdad and Baghdad oil field: round 77 – Empire surrenders – prestige boost
End of war: round 77 = August 44
The year 42 is decisive. Here the player has to set up the necessary steps for success in 43 and 44/45 getting a lot of prestige and reducing the prestige for the Allies.
I also look forward for the next versions of this mod.
Pls. Mr. McGuba make the Ferdinand byable and repairable again like in earlier versions of this mod.
