Ah, very sorry to hear that, and I'm glad you're back online.
If it's all right with Kabill, I'll just randomly resolve this battle so we can move to the next turn. Is there a score right now? I can use that as my starting point.

I'd totally forgotten there was supposed to be another battle. We've not started, so there's no score to give. Happy for you to randomise the outcome.

Some random events...
The Slavs of Mazovia have begun a migration, and have turned to the Franks for guidance (Let me know if you need help with migrating hordes - basically, try to find a convenient province in which to settle, and do the settle order there. If you succeed, it will become your client. You want it to at least border your sphere of influence, if possible, or it will slip out of your control. You can raid your way across provinces but they're likely to ally with your enemies and your horde may break up, if it takes too many losses.)
Dumnonia and the Saxons have both found dynastic disputes in each others' spheres of influence in which to meddle, with pretenders asserting claims to the throne of Bernicia and the tribal leadership of Saxonea
A pro-Ostrogothic usurper has risen in Alamannia
(Various other events have ruffled the frontiers of the non-player empires.)

And here are some maps...
The West... and the East
The West... and the East
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
What are the differences between the options 'Intervene', 'Pacify' and 'Unify'?
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
"Intervene" means you remove enemy influence from a disputed province, turning it into your client.
"Pacify" is just conquering a disputed province, except a bit cheaper and can be done across the sea. It's like what the Romans did in the east: pick one side in a dynastic dispute, show up, win a battle, then decide you're going to keep the place.
"Unify" is for empires that have been broken up and are re-uniting. It's mostly an option in China, although Rome also has that option in Italy. It's basically like "Pacify" - conquering, but cheaper and with fewer requirements.

Thanks Nijis. Orders inbound.
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
Hi Nijis,
Who do I give orders to strategically? The Rouran proto mongols or the Chinese? What's the basic steps? Do I save the orders and send the created file back to you here (attachment? DM?) I've played battles for both sides, but this will be my first strategic turn.
And holy moly, migratory hordes are a thing here? The only simulation/ game that I know does this is Great Invasions by Ageod, and I loved the mechanic (and the empire aging mechanic which it seems you have as well "losing is fun/eventually your empire collapses, but if it survives long enough then massive points"). Can't wait to get my strategy turn in.

Hi kongxinga!
I have you for the Liang, the southern Chinese. The Rouran will have their orders derived by the AI. But you can switch, if you like.
Can you load the savegame file? If you want, hit Do AI orders and that will generate orders, just to give you an idea, and then you can adjust them as you wish. Then when you're done, email me the orders file (which should be created automatically.)
If you can't load the savegame file, I'll send you a DM outlining basic options.
Great Invasions was indeed a big influence on this, both the migrations and the Losing is Fun/Aging arc of an empire. I'll hopefully be able to include a bit of it in the next version.

Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
I emailed mine a couple days back. Don't know what went wrong. Anyway, it's easy. Build an army in my one territory to replace my one army that disappeared last turn
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
Ah, sorry, will look for that.
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
Right - so all orders are now in. New list of battles coming up.
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
The battles... Maps to follow.
OPPONENTS NEEDED:
***
The Visigoths make their move, marching into the disputed duchy of Narbonensis in time to collide with an Ostrogothic army coming from the east. Another Visigothic army raids the Ostrogothic province of Sardinia.
Ostrogoths army (KABILL) to fight Visigoths army (REXHURLEY) in Narbonensis

Visigoths victory results: RemovesEnemyInfluence

***
The Wei-Liang contention continues, as a Wei army raids region of Ba, in Sichuan. In Lu, a reinforcements from the Wei heartland catch the southerners in the midst of preparations for a siege, disrupting their conquest operations.
(Liang's unification order is disrupted because the Wei army moved first. Disruption normally occurs when an army that plans to move to attack one province from another is forced to defend its base. I should probably make it so that an army that starts an order in the same province doesn't have its orders disrupted, but I would need to put out a new version of the game for that.
The good news for the Liang is that they don't spend the resources, and can use them next turn.)
Wei army (JOMNI) to fight Liang (KONGXINGA) garrison in Ba
Northern Dynasties vs Chinese (Southern Qi) in Northern European Hilly
Wei victory results: LootsProvince

Himyarids army (VARDUS) to fight Sassanids client (NIJIS) in Hadhramaut
Arab (City) vs Arab (City) in Desert
Himyarids victory results: LootsProvince

Franks allies to fight Gepids client in Silesia
Gepid (IRONCLAD) vs Gepid (SHADOWBLACK) in Northern European Hilly

The following battles are going on in distance lands, and do not involve any players.
Rome presses the Sassanid frontier buffer states, sending forces to attack the Persians' allies in Colchis on the Black Sea, and against Arab bedouin confederations on the middle Euphrates.
The Hunas continue their campaigns of pillage, attacking the Sassanids in the oases of Zaranj and the Guptas in the Ganges valley.

I've set up both, with the attacker as side A. So for the first battle in Ba I am playing side b to make sure the right side is attacking. Battle of Lu I am playing side A.Nijis wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 5:51 pm

Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
Hi nijis, I know I read this in the manual but please remind me what the hollow boxes above the province mean. Thanks.
Re: 500 AD global campaign - Turn 2 battles are up, new players always welcome
No prob at all - the UI, I realize, is very minimalist and it's not always easy to find things in the manual. The hollow boxes are armies allied to the realm whose color that is. Hordes are slightly larger hollow boxes.
So, if you were Persia, and an independent Armenia was your ally, and you raised an Armenian army there, it would appear as a hollow box in the Persian color and have Armenian army list properties.
