Do conforming troops have to align if it disorders them?
Had a situation last night where my mounted charged a MF in the open at a slight angle. At impact both units were in the open however come movement phase I had to align my bases with the MF bases. This shifted my BG so that some bases now rested in rough terrain.
I couldn't see anything in the rules that allowed me to not elect to not conform so come melee my mounted are disordered.
Yes this correct?

Which can lead to some "geometric ploys" being used around terrain - especially if you can tempt shock troops into an undeclared charge and in the Movement phase they have to conform into disordering terrain ...
In addition to discouraging declared charges for the same reason of course.
I am more and more of the view that the requirement to conform should have been left out and you just play with the bases where they are.

Some of us have been of that opinion since beta testing days. However, the authors have made it clear that hell will freeze over before they eliminate conforming.nikgaukroger wrote:

Oooh, Hazelbark, that hurts to think about. It got down to 45 or so here last night, but we're expecting a high of 82-85 today. San Diego is having one of those weird intervals when Summer comes to Winter.hazelbark wrote:Hell, Minnesota is -42 before windchill right now. Well no conforming can have rather unpleasent side effects too. I had a game only recently where neither mine nor my opponents troops could conform, which effectively prevented me from expanding and overlapping him. Without conforming about every attack that hits a corner would have that effect. Not really desirable and much easier to abuse then conforming.lawrenceg wrote:Some of us have been of that opinion since beta testing days.
