Thracian army doesn't have peltast?

Thracian army doesn't have peltast?

Post by melm »

I found this iconic unit is not in the list of Thracian army and it seems not in the "squads.csv" as I searched it.

Does the dev forget to add this unit or they just want to use light javelinmen to substitute? If the latter is the case, not mentioning the unit model, I think peltast deserves suffering less casualties comparing with the light javelinmen, i.e. the stats shall not be the same.

The overall effect of Thracian peltasts is subsumed into the combination of light foot javelinmen and medium foot. We did not want to have a class of medium foot that could evade because we saw how overpowered that could be in other rules sets.

It would be nice if we had a crescent shielded model for the earlier period Thracian peltasts, but the crescent shield had gone out of fashion (being replaced by the thureos) by the date of the core game. Maybe one day we will add a special crescent shield model for earlier Thracians. Then the light foot could be classified the same as Roman velites, and many of the medium foot would be classified the same as Irregular Foot rather than as Heavy Weapon.
