destroying cities

it seems very slow and painful ,even against ai which has only 3-4 units while i am attacking with over 15

main citadel or HQ of the city has like 150 HP and my boosted artilery hits it between 2 and 4 , it takes me over 20-30 turns to destroy only 1 city, luckily AI had only 1 city (orks) , imagine this against competent humans with 3 , 4 or 5 cities and 3 times larger armies

am i missing something

Artillery is the worst to destroy citadel. The best is tanks, or infantry with heavy bomb / rocket launcher.
And yes, it may still takes 10 turns.

Per Space Marines, the Devastators pack a good early punch combined with good range, their Doctrine & when they have LOS. The higher the levels, of course, the better.
However, the Tactical SM...not so much. :)

To destroy cities you need units with high armor penetration, i personally think they are way to easy to kill right now. in the beta they had twice the hitpoints or so, and that was more challenging.
devastators,dreadnoughts, upgraded predators, stormtalon/raven and terminators wreck cities.
leman russ, with tank commander and commisar abilities smash them to bits, thunderbolts and marauders, basilisk are more support units, they scale with unit size so do not expect to kill units fast with them, Bullgryns also great
heavy destroyers, praetorians, doomscythe, doomsday ark(high power) monotlits and obelisk wreck
warboss, gorkanaut, meganobs, dakkajet, upgraded battlewagon.

These are the units to really smash cities, there is a damage reduction on units in cities, so try to concentrate heavy fire on the city itself :)
