TR/Crypt.Xpack.Gen TROJAN

Post by sabo »

Hi,
I found slitherine products basically by accident, when I found the site I was extremely happy I found a site that created games like the old time board games I used to love. I saw the link for the demo and downloaded it, or tried too.

My Virus protected found a Trojan in the launcher.exe file, I thought WTF?? Is this how these people do business?? I hope this is a mistake and not some intentional, illegal, vindictive, behavior by Slitherine. Has anyone else found this?

This has been discussed before. CEaW contains no trojan or virus. Check out viewtopic.php?t=7908 which discusses the same false positive you're getting.

By the way, CEaW is a great game. I highly recommend it. WW II is my favorite gaming period and I probably own 15 Avalon Hill WW II board games. AH Third Reich use to be my favorite, which I played numerous times in the late 70's and early 80's. I found this game over a year ago and have really enjoyed it since then.

Can you tell us which antivirus you are using? Then at least we know where the false positives are coming from.

Thanks

Pip

pipfromslitherine: I'm using Avira anti virsus, this is my g-friends computer and since she is'nt big on computers I went with Avira since is was free, it is a pretty popular one though so I bet you get a lot of these questions. I suppose had I installed it on my laptop I wouldn't have gotten the virus alert.

rkr: I could never get the hang of Third Reich. My absolute favorite was "The Russian Campaign" by Avalon Hill. It's so realistic the way the game progresses.

Thanks for your help you two..

That was a favorite of mine too.

It is a false positive, so contact your virus checker people and they should be able to add it to the "allow" list at some future date. It seems to be getting more common for some reason...

Yea - I got something like this too - I have Symantec Norton AV. I just turned it off temporarily and loaded the software. After the installation was complete, I turned on the AV program, did a sweep, and no virus was detected.
