MikeC_81 (Jewish Revolt) has taken a firm grip on Division A with 3 wins this week to open up an 11 point lead over second-placed Cunningcairn (Hepthalites). The struggle for runners-up spot in Division B intensified this week with a victory for Nosy_Rat (Sassanids) over Ludendorf (Huns). Both players are sitting just behind second-placed pbuck777 (Pictish) who has already completed his matches. Morbio (Jewish Revolt) has moved to within one point of the current leader GDod (Spanish, Sertorius) in Division C with his fifth straight win. SpeedyCM (Romano-British) is still in the hunt in third place with 4 wins and a draw from his 6 matches so far. Jakdaw (Hepthalites) and MikeMUC (Pictish) desperately need points at the bottom to avoid relegation. In Division D Greyhunter3 (Seleucids) is now looking favourite for the top spot after registering his fifth successive win. Morbio (Syracuse) defeats Tresantes (Bosporan) 66-48

It was a tough start with Syracuse going behind, but eventually the hoplites came into their own and limited the usefulness of the cavalry and lancers, as with many battles it was in the balance until the end.

harveylh’s Spanish (300-100BC) beats iandavidsmith’s Spanish, Sertorius (80-70BC) 56-29

Much rough terrain made initial deployment difficult for both sides. Lucky deployment was the key as the Spanish deployed their warbands in the center and the flank where the Sertorius Romans were not. And the Spanish managed to keep the Romans from doing too much damage on the flank where they were present.

For two turns I survived on 59% losses against the Gauls on 55%, who had been winning throughout. Then I somehow snatched a victory with my veteran hoplite unit. Daylight robbery, but an excellent and friendly game.
