Issue with new patch 1.3.9
Ok, Ive got an issue with implementing this new patch. When I open it up, it does not give me an option to 'browse' where I wish to download it to. I have all my games including FOG2 in folders in my 'downloads' section, not directly within my program files(am running Windows 10 Pro). As I recall I did not have this issue with the earlier patches. It's not really practical for me to uninstall and then reinstall, especially as I'm in the FOG2 Digital League and have many commitments to other players.
Any insight and or help would be appreciated.

I will draw this to the attention of those that make the installer.

I am told that the installer will automatically install the update to the path held in your registry.
So unless you have moved the game files manually after installing it, the updater should work.

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
Hi Alex,
I can't replicate the issue you are having with the installer. I have installed FOG to a folder within my downloads folder and have updated using the 1.3.9 update.
Like Richard has previously mentioned, the installer picks up your install location from your registry - so the installation path should be automatically detected.
Is there any more information you can provide and we will look into it further.
Thanks
Sam

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
Hi guys, thanks for the speedy response. Ok, this starts to make a bit more sense now in light of what you posted. Originally I installed the game in Windows\Programs(x86)\Slitherine, but decided I wanted it to be where I keep all my other games in folders in my Downloads section. So you are saying that even though it is now in my Downloads section the installer is somehow reading that it is still in my Programs file? Does this involve the Registry then, and is it a simple fix?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
What i would suggest and by far the most fail-safe method, is moving all the files back to the original install location, then uninstalling and re-installing the game to your desired location. This will be the best and safest way to maintain the integrity of the game going forward and ensure no potential errors in future uploads.
All your save files will be safe as they are saved to a different location, so you won't lose any of your progress (Documents\My Games\FieldOfGlory2.) (Please don't move these
)

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
My game is installed where the original path directed OS (C:) > Program Files x86 > Slitherine > Field of Glory II . The update 1.3.9 is saved in downloads. I thought I should just be able open the update file and it will know when to put the file or do I need to copy it to Field of Glory II and extract it?
For past updates , I would merely download the zip file and open it. Upon trying this my computer starts blinking and I receive an error message that Internet Explorer stops working. The only way to stop the blinking is to shut down. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
I am still having trouble with the new patch. When I use the "get new patch" function on the initial game screen, I get an error message. I have always gotten this same message. When I download the file from Slitherine and save it and click open file (the method I have used successfully for all past updates) this causes my screen to flash and Internet explorer crashes. I have all recent Internet Explorer updates and other than for this purpose, Internet Explorer works fine. I have tried the same process using Mozilla Firefox as the browser but this causes the same result: screen flashes and I get a message that Internet Explorer (not Firefox) has stopped working. I have actually always used Firefox for this purpose and it has always worked before.
Based on Richards comment above and past successful downloads, I am assuming that I do not need to extract the downloaded file and copy to the Field of Glory II folder. I have never had to do this before. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
If you are using Firefox you shouldn't get the message that IExplorer has stopped working. Firefox doesn't use any IExplorer library. Something is messed.
Install a different Internet browser and check if it happens again.
You have to unzip and run the extracted file to install the update.

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
Ok I thought the installer actually unzipped the file and found the right path. Then I thought the installer automatically extracted the file into the Field of Glory II folder and performed the update. At least, this is the way I have always been able to do it with all past updates. I would just open the downloaded zip file and the update process began.
So should I copy the file from downloads to the Field Of Glory ii file. Then I could use 7zip to extract it there. Would that work?
Sorry about this, just never had the problem before.

Unzip the downloaded file and ruin the extracted exe file.

Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
I finally was able to download the patch 1.3.9 from the Slitherine website and unzip the file by changing the location of the download to 7zip, Somehow it was changed to IE and that caused the issue. I was able to start the installer and it seemed to work fine. No errors on the install. I was able to open the game. I notice when I open the game that The title says "Age of Belisarius." As I have not purchased Age of Belasarius yet, I think the title should still be "Legions Triumphant."
When I try to start a battle, the game crashes and I receive the following message "Script error in tool/slith_randommap/ul/slith_randommap.b5f failed to find variable gltpotluckmaptype: Did you forget to predifineit? Context:function get skirmish potluck terrain. Type=getpotluckmaptype set);// can't recycle the mps version as we need to use rand () here rather than FX rand (). return type."
Even though the patch downloaded with no errors, I thought it may have been somehow corrupted, so I went through the download process again and unzip and install. Once again, no errors, and once again the same result, game crash when I try to start battle. The second time I tried first going to the multiplayer site. This loaded fine, but I did not try to resume the game out of fear it would be corrupted. Then I tried to start a campaign and this caused the game to crash with the same message above. It seems strange to me that the game is titled Age of Belasarius when during the install process only the base game and Immortal Fire and Legions Triumphant are "activated" with their correct serial numbers. I have not purchased Age of Belasarius yet as I thought the patch was needed first. I am a Beta tester and still have the Age of Belasarius Beta through 1.3.6 on my computer and it still works fine. I tried all of this a third time with the same results
Any thoughts as to how I can get things going? The install screen, by the way, on the last two attempted installs first said that I already had v.1.3.9 but did I want to re-install, so I answered yes and install proceeded without error each time. In my download file, the 1.3.9 zip archive says it has 527,647 for each downloaded zip file if this is helpful. The app says it was created 5/30/18 at 7.00 and has 527,893 KB.
Thanks very much,
Mac

No, the flash screen changes to the latest DLC whether it has been purchased or not.mceochaidh wrote:I finally was able to download the patch 1.3.9 from the Slitherine website and unzip the file by changing the location of the download to 7zip, Somehow it was changed to IE and that caused the issue. You need to turn off the "Rise of AI" global mod, the current version of which is not compatible with the updated game, and is what causes the crash. roguedjack is working on it. (You turn it off using the button a the bottom left of the main menu screen)When I try to start a battle, the game crashes and I receive the following message "Script error in tool/slith_randommap/ul/slith_randommap.b5f failed to find variable gltpotluckmaptype: Did you forget to predifineit? Re: Issue with new patch 1.3.9
Hello i had a strange incident with the latest patch and dlc the game started up fine but when i closed the game my Avast antivirus moved the exe file to its antivirus chest and i was unable to get it back. So i had to uninstall the game and the antivirus then reinstall the game first then the antivirus. They both seem to be working now but i hope each time the designers update the game this doesnt keep happening.
