Pantherboy's Army of Soissons to no-ones surprise at all decisively beat devoncop's hapless Palmyrans 15% to 44%.
Good luck to all who face this steamroller
Reported by the losing player as Pantherboy was evidently too much of a gent to report it

Division D
harveylh’s Ptolemaics (166-56BC) beat Morbio’s Syracusans (412-281BC) 40-9.
However the game was closer than that and at the risk of boring readers, I’ll give a brief summary.
Terrain was an issue. Our two armies ended up on adjacent hills separated by a stream. I could understand why Morbio would not attack as his hoplites going uphill against pikes was not an option. I did not want to attack across a stream uphill. One flank was anchored by rough terrain and he would not let my cavalry around that flank. His other flank was anchored by woods but there was a four square gap between the woods and his units on the hill. After four turns of him beating up on my skirmishers, I moved a few pikes to the stream and the following turn rushed the gap with all my pikes. I barely turned his flank though he did get one irregular inf and one cav into the woods behind my pikes. The pikes charged uphill against his line of hoplites and some med inf and the dice gods were with me. The cav and irregular inf behind me did disrupt one pike block but were not able to prevent the successful charge up the hill. Well played by Morbio and the difference between the flanking move succeeding was one square.

Division C Round 2
harveylh’s Romans (490-341BC) beat Hendricus’s Gallics (390-301BC) by 42-12
Terrain favored the Romans as both flanks were secured by woods. This kept the Gallic light chariots from being much of a factor though late in the game Hendricus cleverly slipped one chariot through the woods, flanked a hoplite unit and collapsed that flank. The Romans however had already turned the other flank earlier in the game and that was the difference.

Draw agreed between ggarynorman (Romans 490-341 BC) and Ironclad (Gallic 390-310 BC) as terrain impeded a battle outcome.

Division C Round 3
harveylh’s Romans (219-200BC) beats MikeMUC’s Carthaginians Hannibal in Italy (218-217BC) by 51-26
The Romans had one flank secured by two adjacent woods with a two square gap. On that flank and gap the Carthaginians threw five light horse, numerous light infantry and several Spanish scutarii. The Romans had three medium inf and one velite defending. The Romans had to redeploy two heavy inf and several velites to secure the flank and worried about it the whole game. The Carthaginians killed several velites and disrupted some med inf, but the Romans barely held on. Meanwhile the Carthaginians tried to turn the other flank with all their cavalry. Roman triarii held the flank though one elephant inflicted most of the Roman losses after busting through the front line near that flank. In the center the Roman heavy inf turned back the Carthaginian heavy inf and two elephants easily.

Division B.
Pantherboy (Kingdom of Soissons) defeats Ludendorf (Hunnic Western 376-476 AD) 54-15.
This was a painful one, but I can't help but applaud Pantherboy's superior play. His Soisson army pushed right through every bit of missile fire and skirmisher harassment I could throw at him and shoved me right up against, then off, the edge of the map. Things were going alright until he vaporised my army on the last turn, sending the score from 25-15 to the final score in a single round.
I'm still trying to learn from this. Maybe if I'd gone lancer heavy?

RagnarOneTooth carthage beat Morbio syracuse 47 20
as carthage took on the old enemy Syracuse. A battle of canny skirmishing to avoid the syracusan artillery saw carthage march to their left to try and take a hill only to discover forests full of troops, so march back again. The veteran armoured spear proving decisive in a battle that could have gone either way from the hard fought skirmish and cavalry battle to the final assault.

Re: Season 2 Tournament diary and news
The results are starting to come in nicely now. All the tables and charts will be posted by this week's Sunday round-up at the latest. It seems as if we are developing our very own "Me Too" movement as opponents of pantherboy rush to post the grisly details of their dismemberment before Steve has a chance to.

Think it's a typo, meant to be his Rd 1 match against me that has been agreed to a draw.Ironclad wrote:Correction this game hasn't finished, its continued and a victory looks likely. Report to follow when its completed.ZygfrydDeLowe wrote:Div B Round 1

Terrain unfortunately made it extremely difficult for either side to attack.
