Lots of crashes on Malta map
Hi guys,
just a quick note: I have had a lot - and I mean a lot - of crashes on the Malta mission in Sandstorm. Literally freezing every one or two turns, during AI turns or mine.
I searched for an output dump file or crash files, but the program didnt produce any. (I have a lot from a year ago, folder names are the dates.)
Are they maybe in a new location?
The game just freezes, not crashing to desktop, requiring a total reboot. (Sound goes datdatdatdat, mouse freezes.) Never had that many crashes before. Anybody else having that issue?
I am not sure posting dxdiag and outputlog would help anything here. My machine should be able to handle OoB and hasnt crashed with the other missions. So my guess is that the AI calculations for Malta are more complicated than usual. Or something else.... advice?

for me, if it was or were the game, everyone else would be saying the same thing,
so, for me, and not the developers or board, but my advice, is try a different pc first and see if you can replicate it, if you can't, then you have either a O/S issue, or hardware, if everyone comes and says well it didn't do it before etc, i'd say then i'd need to wait until enough of others first post the same or same type of errors and problems, and then ask for files from you to check etc.
logs and reports etc, but for now, i'd check pc and O/S first, game only if it's a clean install and also updated to the latest, with old version and beta's etc being fully removed, as part of any beta testing, if it's the same pc, any amount of left over may cause some or minor issues or errors.
steam is easy, as a few clicks, and removing the folders for the game and running a good repair and reg cleaning program will remove 99% of everything, manually it takes a while longer

No actual problems playing this one on my side.
But...

That's right. At least after the naval units enter battle, the AI thinking times go WAY up.Andy2012 wrote:So my guess is that the AI calculations for Malta are more complicated than usual.

Re: Lots of crashes on Malta map
I haven't had any of those "freeze" problems on Sandstorm since they released it. I've already played through it once with no problems. I may just play it again just to see but I haven't had this issue.

Played Alam Halfa. No crashes, everything fine. Odd. Adherbal, your job.robertahyuk wrote:I haven't had any of those "freeze" problems on Sandstorm since they released it. I've already played through it once with no problems. I may just play it again just to see but I haven't had this issue.

Re: Lots of crashes on Malta map
Played through Malta with no problem. Sandstorm seems to be fine. Wish I could say that for some of the other DLC's now.
Re: Lots of crashes on Malta map
Do you have a save or an output_log from when you were getting these crashes Andy?
Re: Lots of crashes on Malta map
Just saw this post. I might be able to provide one later this evening or this weekend. My Sandstorm walkthrough continues, but this whole "functioning adult with responsibilities" thing always gets in the way.Shards wrote:Do you have a save or an output_log from when you were getting these crashes Andy?

Re: Lots of crashes on Malta map
After finishing a complete campaign of "Sandstorm" on the hardest difficulty? I didn't have any problems at all and it played smoothly like it should. Maybe the next update will fix some of the other issues that I've come across with a couple of the other DLC's that weren't there before. Good luck!

Just Finishing Operation Herkules (Malta) and it worked as it should - no problems what so ever
