Greetings gentlemen,
First of all I'd like to say that I'm not really sure if I should be posting this here, if I'm wrong (very probable) I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction.
So, the question is, I know you can set your different army cores and such for the different campaign you create with the editor, but... Can you actually add different army cores to the already existing vanilla campaigns?
I was thinking about things like using german units in the US campaign, Russian ones in the Japanese campaign, British on germans... you get the idea.
I presume if possible it should be done by modding, is there any way to make it available? or existing mod that does that?
If not existing mod but actually possible, how would it be done? (bare in mind I have the modding dexterity of a piece of granite)
Well, I look forward to any of your answers,
Thanks for everything in advance and please have a nice day!

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
I'm no expert in scenario design, so if I'm wrong, I shall be corrected.
But I think you answered your question yourself. You can actually edit the stock campaigns the same way as any of your/custom scenarios.
You'll just have to copy them from the main OoB installation folder (\Content\Campaigns) to your usual Scen folder (\Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Scenarios) to make them available in the editor. There you can add or switch factions as you like.

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
Yes, you need to copy the official campaign from the installation folder to the My Games...Campaigns folder.
Then you have to edit both the scenarios and the campaign to add new cores.
You could check how this is done in Sandstorm which uses both Italian and German cores.

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
Oh I see, something like thay came to mind but I was not sure it was possible.
One last question if it is not much of a bother, is it possible to edit the equipement dates of the different core units? As in, having for example 1945 units in 1939.
Thanks for your previous answers and thanks in advance for any possible help!
PS: I will try to look around in the files in case I find something intuitive, but I'll probably mess things up since I'm not particularly good at it.

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
If you're looking to change unit stats like that (they're found in units.csv), then I'd advise to create your own Mod, that way you don't lose your changes if the game gets patched!

Oh I see, that's good to know indeed. Thank you very much!Shards wrote:If you're looking to change unit stats like that (they're found in units.csv), then I'd advise to create your own Mod, that way you don't lose your changes if the game gets patched!

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
So, I have been messing around with the files but I am at loss regarding editing units.
I went through the modding guides in the forum but I cannot seem to find where or what I should edit/add.
I was mainly looking for making any and all units available at any given point in the campaign (please don't judge me I already have all campaigns completed and just want to mess around
)
Is there any guide around I missed?
Thanks again in advance and sorry for taking your time!

Re: Scenario and Unit disposal question
I've made a mod-thread, where I've put most of my findings about modding the units.csv file there. Some posts might help, most won't.chamorro wrote:So, I have been messing around with the files but I am at loss regarding editing units.

This thread on how to manipulate the units.csv file is also helpful.
My idea: If making all units available to all - at all times - is your main goal, you can simply change (or add) the nation in the "faction" column or use "all" instead. Deleting the exitsing entries in the "available" and "expire" columns (or replacing them with other values) should give you what you need.
PS: Just don't use the attached mod file in the thread itself, it's still the wrong version. Use it as template instead.
