What's going on with the AI cavalry?
They attack in and from the woods, uphill and across a river. Why so strong?
I'm just playing random battles for now.
This may seem like a small thing but it really ruins the game.
I have other issues with the woods.
Cavalry seems to have an unreal advantage against infantry in the woods.
I need to stop playing for now till these issues are resolved.
thanks

Re: cavalry strength modofiers
welcome to the forums, cav for it's day was a very costly and powerful mobile force, and worth much more than it's mere numbers alone can represent, combined with a good background and support of infantry and cannon, once mastered the battlefield is your own reaching havoc in front and behind the lines, if it's heavy and dense woods i'd maybe agree with you, but not all woods are this way, with many being quite open and yes maybe over time will be neffed somewhat from it's release version with more reports and feedback etc
Re: cavalry strength modofiers
Yes the penalty for doing these things dont always apply unfortunately.
I also hope for a patch before going further into the campaign.
One thing mentioned will be included in the patch is a cav nerf when attacking squares. As it stands, cav can attack squares without effort, which kind of breaks the purpose of the square formation.

Re: cavalry strength modofiers
I assume that the infantry contains skirmishers?
So I just don't see the advantage for the cavalry in the woods.
Also this really tweeks me - cavalry in the woods attacking infantry in the woods, across a river and up a hill.
Why so devastating? (It does seem to be the same for both sides).
Hiding in the woods seems to hurt rather than providing cover.
I hope the terrain modifiers get looked at.
I really like so much about this game.
But when I get the feeling that I'm fighting the game as much as the enemy I lose interest.
The irritation level is so hi that I must put the game up till then before I end up hating it.
BTW - this is not keeping me from winning.
One last unrelated thing - I really hate being told what my first moves are.
