Re: One week left in the tournament . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

There is just one week to go now so I would ask everyone who has matches still to finish to do their utmost to get them done. I do not want to extend the tournament beyond April 15 as I will be opening up recruitment to the KO tournament the next day (April 16). Leaving matches unfinished at the end of the season may affect your entry rights for Season 2.

I have been traveling this past week and will be back to finish my match with Valdavia tomorrow. We should be able to finish in the last week.

New FOGII (April 2018) Campaign Tournament (bbogensc)

Post by bbogensc »

NEW FOGII (April 2018) Campaign Tournament (bbogensc moderator)

Open to anyone (not sponsored or affiliated with Byzantine games or Slitherine).
Multiplayer battles rules (map size, army size, etc.) are the same as in the sponsored tournaments

NOTE: Players are expected to resolve 1 or more battles in a 4 day period, and to submit strategic moves in a 2 day period. Slow players (persons that make 1 move per day or so) should not join this campaign.

Strategic Campaign Map (attached here)

Reply to this post to choose faction! Please specify time period for army as appropriate. First come first served (first 30 to respond).

(ancient map and factions are intended to be both playable and historically plausible but not strictly so)

30 Factions to choose from:

Ancient British
Gaul
Galatia
Germania
Iberia
Spain
Campanian
Etruscan
Umbrian
Rome - MikeC_81
Carthage
Numidia
Ptolemaic
Pyrric
Dacia
Macadeonian
Greece
Syracuse
Slave Revolt
Jewish
Arab
Nabatean
Persian - bbogensc
Armenian
Antigonid
Lyimachid
Kapadocian
Seleucid
Bosporan
Skythian

Note: There are several black boundary lines on the map that divide Rome into 2 provinces, and the Med into 2 sea zones, etc.

Strategic Rules (these are based on simple tabletop campaign practices used in ancient figurine tournaments)

* Each player starts with 2 provinces as reflected on the Strategic Campaign Map (except Slave Revolt with 3).
* Each province starts with 1 army of its province type.
* Each province automatically produces 1 army per turn (unless conquered in that turn).
* New army produced in that turn defends the province.
* Units move 1 land space on the strategic map (will be colored counters placed on the map).
* Units may move out to sea in 1 turn, and may move to any land space bordering that sea space in the next turn, no naval battles. Sea spaces are North Sea, West Med, East Med, Black Sea.
* A conquered province may build EITHER local province unit or base unit of the player.

Tactical Rules

* When a province is invaded, the invading army fights the defending armies 1 at a time, in sequence. If the attacker wins, that eliminates 1 defending army. If there are 2 or more defending armies, then the a new battle is initiated as each defending army is defeated, or likewise with 2 or more attacking armies.
* A draw of any kind results in BOTH armies eliminated.
* Attacker sets up battle in FOGII multiplayer with Pot Luck map.
* If armies meet at the border, then either player may set up battle (first in time prevails).
* Slow play (of any kind) results in DEFEAT for the ENTIRE force at the end of the 4 day Tactical Phase period. If you encounter slow play take a screenshot and send to the moderator with the next Strategic Move Phase (see below). If both players allege slow play, then moderator will adjudicate based on screenshots submitted. It is presumed that players will make multiple moves per day.

Diplomatic Rules

* Alliances are encouraged between players, no holds barred, but winner takes all (no joint victory).

Administrative Rules:

Strategic Move Phase (every 2 days)
*Each Player sends by PM (to bbogensc) moves and build for each province controlled, e.g.:
* Within a day or so after the Strategic Move Phase, bbogensc will send each player the battles resulting from simultaneous moves in the Strategic Move Phase.

Numidia 51
(1) 2 Numidian armies attacks Carthage
(2) 1 Numidian army move to West Med sea zone
(3) Build 1 army Numidian

Tactical Battle Resolution Phase

* Tactical Battles should be resolved in Multiplayer PBEM within 4 days.
* 4 days begin when moderator (bbogensc) posts on forum the battles after the Strategic Move Phase*
* Please post battle results on forum page.
* If a province is conquered (0 defending armies remain), NOTE that in the forum post.

Re: Tournament diary and news

Post by stockwellpete »

I have updated the league tables this morning, but there will be no Sunday round-up this week as results have reduced to a trickle. There are still about 25 matches to be completed in the last week of the tournament. A full round-up will be provided at the end of the tournament.

Final Pool B

Cunningcairn (Greek) defeated Pbuck777 (Spartan) 32% to 64% in one of two very even, hard fought battles. Score is not a true reflection of this game which only went my way in last 2 turns.
