US Naval Campaign

Post by edward77 »

i was really looking forward to playing this campaign. Sadly I was disappointed. The first scenario, Pearl Harbour (24 turns) should be a Japanese lightning strike and then retreat. Instead with US Carriers present it looks more like Midway. On the island all US aircraft are under Computer control as are the Catarinas which makes it more difficult but takes away a lot of the fun. The player controls the ships in the harbour which can start to run away before the Japanese attack. Virtually all enemy units are revealed at the start so no attempt to disguise where the Japanese carriers are located. The two Catarinas, programmed to search where the enemy definitely is not, are therefore redundant.
The primary objectives are:- 1. To not lose any carriers and 2. To sink at least 2 enemy carriers. I achieved both these easily, eliminating all units by T19 .
The scenario then dragged on to the bitter end, the computer refusing to accept that I had not lost any carriers so resulting in an incorrect draw!
