Order of Battle medieval & Victorian?

Post by lt1956_slith »

Hello,

I wonder if anyone else likes the idea of seeing other themes beside WW2, I was thinking Medieval or even better the Victorian period. Imagine Africa campaigns, Sudan, Boer wars, Maybe fictional conflict with Germany in the colonial locations. I just think this engine would make a fun game in those time periods. Anyway what do you think? :D

I think that everyone thinks that this would be a great thing but the consensus is for The Artistocrats to finish World War 2 before moving on.

YAY..:)
I said in another thread only the other day- "..the possibilities are endless, eg Modern War, Korean War, North Africa, Falklands, Arab-Israeli Wars etc, and of course Nam.."

and yes, Medieval and Victorian would be fine too like you suggest.
At the moment OOB's big rival is 'Panzer Corps' which is exclusively WW2, so there's definitely a gap in the market for other periods and theatres which the OOB developers could plug and become millionnaires, my cash is waiting, and as a longtime wargame developer/playtester myself I'd be glad to do some beta testing free of charge, I'm retired and can put in 10 hours of testing per day 24/7..:)
For example Vlad is talking the talk and calling us out, so if the OOB devs brought out a Russia vs Ukraine/NATO DLC we could take him on and see if he can walk the walk-

PS- If I was strategy manager at Slitherine I'd say to the OOB devs something like- "Okay guys, OOB and Panzer Corps are top-heavy with WW2 stuff, so our next release is going to be 'Modern War' because modern conflicts are on our TV news screens all the time whetting our appetites as wargamers to get stuck in there ourselves! It's a gap in the market that we're going to plug!
Afterwards we'll come back to WW2 and release OOB DLC's for the West Front and North Africa, plus other historical periods and theatres".

Have you tried Afghanistan '11 (another game published by Slitherine)?

No, and I know there are already plenty of games covering most other periods and theatres too, each with their own differing engines and play systems etc, but I like the OOB engine better..:)
That's why hopefully in the months and years ahead the OOB's will produce a whole range of games from the Roman Wars all the way up to modern scifi..:)
