Getting Pics to show during a popup how ...

Nevermind my info below ---- I found on page 4 of randomly digging in the forums that this is a "known bug" a bug that is not mentioned in the editor manual nor a sticky but thank God Almighty I ran across this post - normally I would have thought to try to get it to work by simply running the scenario it works now if I do this but no through the editor which on page 4 of this forum says that in a post of the thread that happens to talk about this.


I have tried everything even loaded other scenarios where the popups work and looked at the Triggers.

I can get triggers to pop up all day long the one I am working on is I go to a specific hex and I want the pop up to show a pic. I can get the pop up to pop up and I have put in the text I want but the pic I have is not shown the pop up is greyed out.

The manual says something about in the Mission page wherein you have the defeat and draw and win popups that the pic must be ..... These pictures need to be 512 x 415 pixel png files and must be saved in the C:\Users\[Name]\Documents\My Games\Order of Battle – WW2\Scenarios\<your scenario name> folder. I have the pic in the right folder still no pic I even put the pic fleet_arrives in my scenario folder and assigned this pic to my pop up naming it the exact same thing fleet_arrives just as it is shown in the trigger of this stock scenario scenario and still this pic which is 512 x 415 (because it is the exact same file that is in the stock scenario) is not shown in my scenario the pop up pops up but the pic area is greyed out.

Some little dinky thing I am not doing (I found the answer on page 4 of these forums) ok back to making the stupid scenario I'm working on

If you are testing your scenario by launching it in the editor, the pictures do not show up in that mode. I don't know why but it's never been corrected and seems to be an accepted phenomenon. Try saving the scenario and starting it up in gameplay mode to see how the pictures look.

Oh, I see you found it while I was typing. If you are talking about the manual that I wrote, you are right; I probably should mention it. I will do so when I edit the manual for the next patch and the changes it brings to the scenario editor.

The manual is great though answers a lot of questions. I have a pop up now that works but only if I do not first click on the turn that the pop up is suppose to pop up on the Blue Question mark in the Primary objective list. Then I had one that always popped up a but now it is not popping up I think I may have to many pop ups. My pop ups are like pop tarts.

Found another thread thing the thing to do is use move and combat to generate a pop up rather than any event got it .. thanks

Yes, you are running across things that dumbfounded me before I discovered the reasons. That thing about popups not popping up if you look at the objectives first at turn start, I thought maybe that had been changed for the better . . . I did my latest scenario accordingly . . . but now you are saying that you see it. In 5.2.3? 32-bit or 64-bit?

I can't figure out how to get an email sent to me it someone leaves a post in a subscribed thread ok anyway uh the problem occurs with 64 bit 5.2.3.

If I have a pop up for example that is to be generated on turn 5 but I click on a blue question mark of an objective then the pop up does not occur but the work around is to have a move event generate the pop up but then the scenario I made the player will more than likely not move his units for about 3 turns so I have to tell the scenario player that they must move a unit I have placed back at HQ for the first 15 turns of the scenario either the HQ unit that is at HQ or there own units after that I still have pop ups but the player will be moving units from then on

the other thing I ran into was having an AI team move to a specific hex when it is take this is not suppose to occur until the hex is taken but the unit moves to the hex no matter what at the beginning of the scenario the work around being I place them real far away from the hex and or later on with other enemy AI I have them go active only when enemies are near. I finally completed my first scenario now I am going to figure out how to post it so it can be downloaded. whoo hoo
