Two, one day, three game, comps in Manchester 1st/2nd Nov
Moderators: philqw78, terrys, hammy, Ghaznavid, Slitherine Core, Field of Glory Moderators, Field of Glory Design
Maybe there will be people who turn up in the morning and those coming I'm sure will be looking forward to a chance to play using the smaller table size and time frame. Any chance to play is good for me.hammy wrote:We have more than enough players for a viable comp on both days, just not (the last time I saw) ehough to fill all the space we have allocated which is a pity
Still I have lots of nice prizes from Osprey to give away and with less players there will be more per player.
Dave
Going off the army lists I have had submited and the last set of entry information I have seen then we have the following runners and riders.
Not as many players as I had hoped but I have a feeling that the proximity to Roll Call and Warfare could have been an issue. Also the MAWS FoG bootcamp being the weekend after the comp doesn't help
Still enough players for a comp on both days and I will ensure that Sunday players don't play the same person twice over the weekend. If we end up with odd numbers through extra players joining or people not turning up I will play to even things up.
I have a stack of books from Osprey and am just about sorted.
Code: Select all
Matt Poole Saturday Medival Crown of Aragon
Neil Howard Saturday Later Hungarian
Paul Dawson Saturday Kushan
Robert Taylor Saturday Late Republican Roman
Adrian Steer Saturday Hungarian
Dave Redhead Saturday Swiss
Alan Gilbert Saturday Pontic
Roger Greenwood Saturday Hussite
Steve Clarke Saturday Classical Greek
Adrian Stubbs Saturday Sassanid Persian
Wendy Clark?
Grahame Finney Sunday Middle Hungarian
Matt Poole Sunday Principate Roman
Neil Howard Sunday Later Hungarian
Dave Redhead Sunday Swiss
Roger Greenwood Sunday Hussite
Steve Clarke Sunday PalmyranStill enough players for a comp on both days and I will ensure that Sunday players don't play the same person twice over the weekend. If we end up with odd numbers through extra players joining or people not turning up I will play to even things up.

Great Day !!
Hi guys
Thanks for a great day yesterday in this competition.
Thanks to Hammy for setting the day up and loaning me his LRR legionaries. They performed well but wish I could say the same for their support troops.
Thanks to my opponents, Paul Dawson, Dave Redhead and Adrian Stubbs, for very enjoyable games played in very good spirits.
I may have lost 2 games but hey I managed to win 1..............my first ever victory in FOG.
I look forward to further competitions.
Rob.
P.S. For 2.5 hours the 650 AP on 5 ft by 3 ft seems perfect !!

Re: Great Day !!
Glad to have played you Rob glad you won your first game, pity it was against the Swiss! no joking aside I would like to thank all the players who turned up in a cold hall even for us Scots who had to fight with a hat on(softey yes I know I am) I would like to thank my oppenents who put up with my lack of knowledge of the small details of the rules well most of the details that is. On this point I would like to thank Hammy who had to put up with my numerious calls on Saturday 'Hammy got a minute over here, what happens here' I for one had a great time and won my second only ever FOG game, might be on a roll here only another ten more games and I might win my third game. So if your my eleventh opponent would'd better watch out. Hope to see you soon somewere in the future.Robert241167 wrote:Hi guys

A very good weekend. Thanks for organising the event Hammy. I enjoyed it, despite the miserable performance of the Hussites. With hindsight, not a good choice at 650 points.
For anyone reading this who has not tried 650 points on a 5' by 3' table it is a nice change. Two and a half hours was enough time to play a game through. Even the less experienced players were getting through the game at a good pace.

I don't know I liked your army you handled it well I have never fought one before and your knights looked well hard.rogerg wrote:A very good weekend. Thanks for organising the event Hammy. A bit of both cause i had'nt a clue how to deal with them so just lucky dice with the halberds, I enjoyed the game we had lots of fun with all that lovely mountain stuff, its strange cause Switzerland has large areas of completely flat long valleys, but being all foot its the only way to survive a Cavalry Army lots of terrian. Still I talked to Ian at Iregular today about your well painted wagons, very good paint work on them as well those Knights. Maybe next year I'll try and start a 25mm Hussite Army its one on the list at least. Hope to see you around soon.rogerg wrote:Ours was cetainly an unusual game Dave. Hussites versus Swiss, with a battlefield of three steep hills and two impassable terrain pieces on a small table. I haven't yet decided whether my decision to avoid the pikes by driving my wagons down a gully was genius or madness.
