Order of Battle - Crashes

Post by nsaglian »

My Order of Battle has been crashing for a while - possibly after the latest update. I have tried several times re-installing (both Steam & the PC) but I get the same crash. It crashes as soon as I select the "Play Order of Battle" button. I have attached the Error and Crash Dump files, and the Output Log and DxDiag files.

welcome to the forum, and sorry about your issues, just looking at your report now,...

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz

Memory: 10240MB RAM

User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)

Card name: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics
Dedicated Memory: 4041 MB
Driver Date/Size: 12/5/2017

AMD High Definition Audio Device
Date and Size: 11/16/2017

VIA HD Audio
Date and Size: 6/15/2015 (old)

TrueImageMonitor.exe app crashes

is this a new build or an updated to window 10?

no game related errors are in the report, a few system error ones, which this one mention above is the most, remove from boot and update the Via HD audio ones and retry, plus start the pc with a clean profile, eg as little as possilbe loaded, just to make sure something in the background app and or program wise isn't stopping the game from working.

error log of the game now,...

Switching to resolution 1600x900 failed, trying lower one
Crash!!!

in your report above you have a miss match, which size screen res are you running?

Current Mode: 1600 x 900 (32 bit) (59Hz)
Monitor Name: ViewSonic VX2376 SERIES
Monitor Model: VX2376 Series
Monitor Id: VSC3B32
Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.000Hz)

it can be one or the other, but not both

the monitor supports fully the game
The ViewSonic® VX2376-smhd is a sleek 23” Full HD monitor
This monitor features Full HD 1920x1080 resolution for unbelievable pixel-by-pixel image performance.
but your report states it's been set lower than your screen res?

next is the ram amount, it states 10gb? is this correct, only ask as it's an odd amount, memory in modern pc's are normally paired, so go into X2 so always a even number, which 10 is, but it would normally be, 2/4/8/16/32 as it's X the base starter, and 10 stands out for me as odd also.

regarding the rest of the reports, this is for the developers to look and comment on, to see if for them it points to something they can or could mention to being the cause

I'd recommend deleting the setting.dat from the My Games/Order of Battle/settings folder.

It sounds like it's trying to do something with screen resolution that isn't working somehow

I'm playing U.S. Pacific and as I worked through the different scenario's the crashes started and got worse and worse. Trying to move on to the Philippines scenario I receive a constant crash. Please fix this.
I played the Blitz campaign all the way through without crashes so it's nothing to do with the video as all my settings are the same.

the forum is correct, but this is the posters thread, if you place another one in someone else's thread, all i was saying is it may get missed or not answered, so better to make your own etc, then the reply will be for you etc

http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=372

so anywhere above ^^ and name it your own, so what part is making it crash, the build number your on, steam or site version etc, and no mods, only site version question etc and you will get sorted and answered etc
