game crashes more than before

so i bought the new panzerkrieg. i tried to download and install that and the new patch for 64 bit. after 2 or 3 attempts it was not showing up in game as being installed, not updating my game, i still had the old 4.7 something version and no panzerkrieg installed so i decided to download and install the 32 bit patch. that worked i had panzer and the new 5.2.3 patch, however for whatever reason my game crashes 3 or 4 times every scenario. my comp is a 64 bit comp so i dont know why the 64 b patch didnt work and i can only think that the reason for the crashes is that i have the 32 b patch installed but like i said when i tried to install the 64 b patch but it wasnt installing or updating my game. im in the middle of the new panzer camp so i will not be doing any reinstalling until i have finished the camp. but its getting annoying having the game crash 3 or 4 times every scenario. any ideas as to why its crashing? thanks.

I would uninstall the entire thing and start from scratch. In your case, I would install the 32-bit version. Here's how:

Then I would not count too much on playing your present Panzerkrieg campaign from where you left off. I am betting that mixing in the 64-bit patch compromised both your OOB game and the Panzerkrieg save. Instead, start Panzerkrieg again and "nuke" (cheat code #igotnukes) your way through scenarios to where you want to resume. Yes, it's not optimal but it may be the only way.

thanks for the help. another question. is it a bug or something new that commanders die without the unit dying? since burma road i have been on occasion losing my commander to injury. they become unattached even though the unit still has health sometimes at 7 or 8 strength. i thought we should only lose commanders if the unit dies, ie. health hits 0. my current scenario ive lost 4 commanders in 2 rounds to injuries without losing the units and like i said at least 1 unit had a health of 8 when i lost the commander. i dont remember reading in any patch notes that this can happen so im wondering if its a bug or intentional.

I have a clean x64 5.2.3 build on a modest Win 7 box. All DLCs are installed except Panzerkrieg (that one is still baking in IMHO). I've played through Morning Sun, and half way through Winter War, and have not encountered any crashes. I'll typically alt-tab to other video & audio intensive applications, and go days between reboots. The product is very robust from my perspective, and I tip my hat to the developers for that.

I have noticed leaders getting wounded and sidelined for x number of turns (never killed). This occurred during the normal course of business (attacking at favorable odds)- in no case was the leader's ground or air unit destroyed. I smiled and chalked it up to probability and thought there's a new nice touch of realism.

As a Morning Sun aside, the only difference in 5.2.3 I noticed was the specialization allowing Japanese infantry to build fieldworks was no longer available. The Kriegsmarine changes didn't impact destroying the Chinese navy. The only change aspect that came into play was perhaps movement minimizing damage. A campaign rerun is still good fun!

yeah i meant the commanders are getting injured not dying, but until burma road came along i never experienced this. only if the unit dies will the commander become injured. now it seems every scenario i lose a commander or more several times. i chalk it up to probability also that maybe the commander just happens to get injured. i just dont remember reading that that changed since i never saw it prior to the burma road update.
