Bought FoGII ten days ago, and Immortal Fire a couple of days later. My friend bought it two days and we just completed our first PBEM game. Some more comments and questions.
1. Is there a way to delete a completed game? I took a screenshot using another program of the final screen with the losses which is all I need. I can see that after awhile there are going to be a lot of completed games showing in the game lobby.
2. In the manual it indicates that if a General is involved in a melee, any units under his command within 4 hexes gain a benefit when checking for cohesion. I'm wondering why that General wouldn't provide that benefit when he is within 4 hexes and not involved with a melee?
3. The manual indicates that units not in command suffer from reduced command and control such as not getting the free 45 degree turn. What other effects are there?
4. What is the probability of a General getting killed in a melee? Is it any different from missle fire? Being aware of this probability would affect my decision as to whether to send him in to an attack.
5. Wouldn't be more historical if the loss of a great leader like Caesar, Alexander, or Hannibal had a significant affect on the morale and cohesion of an army over and above what is currently indicated for the loss of a General, rule 10.3.
6. It would be more realistic if a foot unit that has been charged by a mounted unit couldn't run away (can't remember the terminology in the game) or at least have the possibility of running away reduced because the mounted unit is faster.
Just to repeat some suggestions.
Replays - Players should be given the option of setting the speed of the replay. As you indicated, replays are accelerated. I have my game speed set at 50% which is what I would like replays to play at. Also what about adding a rewind, pause, and play buttons instead of only having the option of viewing the replay in it's entirety.
Camera Pitch - currently the lowest angle is 45 degrees. How about expanding that so we can view the battlefield from a lower angle. Someone posted on the forum that they changed it to 25 degrees but as you stated that involves changing the file to read/write and a couple of other steps which I am currently hesitant to do.
Thank you.

1 They get zapped every so often by the server ghosts ( my guess is after 2-3 weeks? Don't really pay attention...)canuckgamer wrote:Bought FoGII ten days ago, and Immortal Fire a couple of days later. My friend bought it two days and we just completed our first PBEM game. 2 I believe its command range divided by 4, so in skirmish battles, 2 grids ( as all generals have 8 grid range) This could be different in epic battles, depending on the scenario designer. I'm going by memeory so you should read the manual to be sure.
The moral bonus is the excitement in seeing the "ties and shirts "actually do some dirty work for once.
3 none
4 not sure , I don't think its published. They dont test to die from missle fire. The manual states higher chance when they lose a combat... My gut tells me 2-3%
5 It probably could be scripted in a user designed scen.
6 The closer your cavalry are the more likely they will be caught, and ironically the more likely they wont evade as better to die fighting then get a spear in the back...

5. Play Remove the Head mode. Wish it could be made a global option instead of a specific type of custom battle.
Re: More Comments and Questions After 10 Days
With regard to point 6, if a skirmisher starts the opponent's turn directly in front of a mounted unit and is charged, it doesn't evade because it 'knows' it will get caught and gibbed in the back. I eventually learned this from experience and some tips here on the forum from RBS (and the sacrifice of many, many innocent javelineers). Now, if attacking mounted with javelins, I position them at 45 degrees to give them a chance!
