Black Screen after Updates
Thought this was worth mention! After all updates to v4.6.9.4xxxx the desktop icon shortcut linked to the "autorun" file brings up the initial control panel just fine - but when I hit the "play" button the game seems to launch as I can hear the music, but there is nothing but a black screen!!! The game launches just fine if I do so direct from the "oob.exe" file so I simply made a new shortcut to that ... but still thought I should mention it in case anyone else has run in to this??? This did not happen when installed and updated on my desktop but did so doing the same on my laptop....very odd indeed.
Re: Black Screen after Updates
welcome to the forum, if you delete the settings folder and restart, the game will make a new one and work fine
Re: Black Screen after Updates
Thanks for the reply! Already tried the fix per the stickie above - delete the settings folder - tried that followed by a reboot of the computer and no joy - also tried that followed by re-launch of the game - no joy.... What is so odd is that none of this happened on my older desktop - only on the much newer desktop - both of which are now running the latest windows 10 update.
Re: Black Screen after Updates
lets take a look to see why your still on the older / later version
How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:
1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.
once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum
as of today, Order of Battle v5.2.3 is the latest

Re: Black Screen after Updates
Ok here is the zipped dxdiag file! No problems were found with any of the tests... When I check for updates it says I already have the most current version - I did do one more to the 64-bit version - and that is what it is saying - tho if I look at the details on the oob.exe file it is saying 4.6.9.2xxx
not sure if I did the attachment right - let me know if it is posted

just for notes tbh
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Shared Memory: 2004 MB

Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor
Monitor Id: CMN15C1
Hybrid Graphics GPU: Integrated
Realtek High Definition Audio
Date and Size: 6/15/2015 (drivers out of date) my opinion is this,
out of this, you haven't got a graphics chip, but a CPU which is acting as a GPU, which is not only slower, but makes the CPU do 2 times the work, so also slows down the cpu
now 4gb of ram would be fine for the game, but with only 2gb for the windows and none left for the game? as 2gb is shared with the card, your below the min i';d say to run, unless you free up some base memory and let the card just have a totally of 512 mb then windows and the game would work and run better, if you can do this, it will be an option in the BIOS at start up, if it's not there, you will or would have to run the game in the lowest setting and have a clean startup with next to nothing else loaded as anything in the startup will use up resources which windows and the games needs.
add more ram, is an option, but as it's a laptop, adding a card isn't.
also you maybe have to alter some more settings as well altering the power mode, don't run of batteries etc but mains, and turn off screensaver, and power saving mode and also run at max, not any mid to low battery saving mode etc, which will make the CPU run at it's best, giving you extra power, which you will need, good luck and hope it helps
