Very Impressed!

Post by OliversArmy »

I have been playing FoG2 for a week now. I have some knowledge of Roman military history, I have an interest in Macedonians and Persians, but otherwise my knowledge of ancient warfare is very limited. However being a very avid player of Pike and Shot Campaigns (an area of history I believe i have some expertise in ) I was intrigued by FoG2, took the plunge and purchased it. Had a problem updating it, asked on the forum and within a very short while Richard Bodley-Scott put me right and even refrained from calling me a technophobic idiot, as it was stupidity causing the problem! (Richard has helped me before when up loading scenarios for Pike and Shot, I have never seen such hands on help from a developer).

I have explored FoG2, played a Campaign and even entered a multi-player battle, something I have never done before! I am now fired up to learn more about the armies represented and how to use them.

I will be getting Immortal Fire, I have dropped hints at home, Christmas is coming!

Thanks for a great game, and great community.

Just finished my first multiplayer game and yeah I think its fantastic, too! It was my first FOG game against a human player for years, and the computer game and multiplayer system gets rid of most of my on-table problems - taking too long for a turn, not being able to work out how many turns of movement there were till you hit something, not being sure about distances and what you could or could not do, etc, etc - I usually lost or got a draw on the table, but this time got a win against a very competent player! Games are well timed, too, so you can play more than one in an evening, which was impossible with the on-table game.
