Athens

any reason for not making athens a unique faction , since sparta is a unique faction in the game

Mainly because Sparta had a unique military system, whereas Athens did not (on land).

It is sort of a no-win situation - if we did give separate lists for Athens, Thebes, Corinth etc. etc. people might complain that we were spamming similar army lists.

Apart from the Spartans, most Greek city states fielded similar armies, so don't really need separate army lists.

Maybe the separate lists can come at a later date as a surprise treat (perhaps with a player-made unique paint job!). I'd like to see separate Greek City States, different Gallic tribes, perhaps even Roman legions loyal to a specific general!

Indeed. One of the modders is working on such a module.
