Couple of Panzerkrieg questions

Post by AgentTBC »

I played through the first scenario and am on the second. So far so good! Two quick questions for anyone who has imported a core and/or made it to the second scenario.

1) In the second scenario (Demyansk) you start with a Horse Transport unit and a Cargo Truck unit in the pocket. Do these units actually do anything? They don't seem to act as supply points, they don't seem to add to the supply of the existing points, and... uh, that's it. They are just... there.

2) I imported the commander Guderian with my existing corps. He gives like 5 shock, 1 anti-soft and 1 anti-hard attack. He also appears to have a command radius of 2-3 hexes. So, uh, what does his command radius do? I can't see any differences in the units inside the shaded areas vs those outside of his command radius. So what's he do?

Thanks.

Ad. 1 - I couldn´t tell you. I´m on mission 2 and wondering the same.

Ad. 2 - the Guderian bonusses should apply to any friendly landbased unit in the shaded area. If it shows up og just adds up when you attack I dont know. I like to use him around arty, especially arty with high shock. I´m using him around the new nebelwerfer, as they are also close to my front units.

They symbolize supply and support units trapped in the pocket. If you successfully resupply the pocket via air, they disappear (=get rescued on the return flight).

Yeah, re 1) this is mostly a flavour thing, there were significant numbers of non-combat/even non-military units in the pocket.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just drive around my horsies for flavor! Good horsies.

WarHomer: Yes I put Guderian on some of my arty as well. I don't see his bonuses being applied to any unit inside his radius, though. Like you said maybe they only show up during combat. Of course that makes it very difficult to tell if its actually working.

Encountered the horse transport and a cargo truck and spent some time trying to work out their purpose. Seems best not to add this confusion to the game if they serve no purpose. Do they use supply?

Cheers,
Chris
