Re: LORDS OF ITALY c 280 BC
Londo (Carthage) 33/56 - Ian (Epiros) 52/50
Pyrrhus held back his phalanx for quite a while, leading to a Mexican standoff in which both sides' heavy infantry stared at each other outside charge range, and made rude gestures without engaging.
On the other side of the Epirot army, they assaulted the city, and moved forward aggressively to fight the Numidians and Spaniards. This did not end well, and there were few steady Epirot units remaining on this side of the battle by the end.
Eventually the two phalanxes did come to grips. This was an even fight, but with his rear crumbling, Pyrrhus sounded the retreat.
Londo 10.4
Ian 5.9

Londo (Epiros) 37/50 - Blackadder (Carthage) 57/56
This time round, Pyrrhus lifted the siege of the city, and Epirot units in the rear moved inwards to a narrower defensive line, aiming to avoid contact with the Spanish shock troops for as long as possible.
The two phalanxes engaged swiftly, and the Epirot pikes did well on impact, inflicting much disruption.
On the left of the Carthaginian phalanx, Spaniards and Punic cavalry attempted to flank the Epirot phalanx, but were destroyed by lancers.
The Carthaginian infantry armour helped somewhat, but couldn't prevent their phalanx ultimately collapsing.
Londo 10.2
Blackadder 7.4

Edmund Blackadder (Carthage) had us going back and forth constantly in the game!
Luckily for me the dice got hot in the last two turns, I sneaked out a win against him.
Carthage 51/51, Syracuse 48/51.
Enakan 10/10
Edmund 9.4/10
Thanks Richard!
