Mouse is "floating"
Mouse is "floating"
Field of Glory II..Love the game.
I have a new 6 month old HP Pavilion CPU with all the bells and whistles, with a "ball-less" mouse.
All drivers are current.
In game play, the cursor seems to float around and is not as responsive as it normally is, which makes me think it may be an interface issue?
Has anybody else had this problem?
Win10, factory installed.

Re: Mouse is "floating"
maybe an idea to let us have a look,
How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:
1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.
once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

Re: Mouse is "floating"
Try switching to Windowed mode. It will look the same, but some drivers can buffer too many frames ahead and that can cause the mouse to float.
SHIFT+Q can be used to show the framerate too.
Cheers

Thank you guys for the quick responses...Will try both.
Re: Mouse is "floating"
ok good luck and hope it works for you
Re: Mouse is "floating"
My mouse isn't as responsive as it should be either (Win 10, new desktop). I'll try the windowed mode and see if that works. Also, the pointer is too big imo, any way to change the size of it?

Re: Mouse is "floating"
You can see your framerate by hitting SHIFT+Q. If it is low then you can try reducing the shadow quality. If you post your system specs we can determine the kind of performance you should get.
There is no way to change the size of the cursor.

I have tried the windows screen as suggested, no help..Will continue to tinker...
Re: Mouse is "floating"
Shadows on, Anti Aliasing on "all the way" - FPS = 25
Shadows off, Anti Aliasing off - FPS = 60. Mouse much better, still just a bit of lag/float but nothing too bad. Game doesn't look as good

Re: Mouse is "floating"
If Windowed mode doesn't help you might try looking at the video card settings to see if the frames-to-buffer is set too high. You can also try disabling vsync.
Low quality shadows should give a significant boost vs higher levels, so try the different levels. I run a similar (but slower) setup and seldom drop below 60 unless I am zoomed all the way out on the very hugest battles.

Re: Mouse is "floating"
Yeah, when I turn on shadows (low) my FPS drops to 30. Thanks for the tips!

Re: Mouse is "floating"
Sorry - I misread your video card as a 760, not a 730. That is a pretty low-end card, and so low shadows is likely the correct level for it.
