unable to update
unable to update
I updated FOG2 through the update menu and it seemed to go fine but the game wouldn't start. Through searching i found it had installed to the "C" drive and my install is on the D drive, i wasn't offered a choice of directories on install. OK i delete the folder on the C drive and go to the members area to download and install manually, downloaded just fine but when i go to install again it defaults to the C drive where my install is on the D drive, again no choice to pick install location of update. I'm kind of stuck in a loop here, the old version works fine but i am unable to update or get to my PBEM games as i dont have the newest version.
Re: unable to update
Got it sorted out.
I have a Matrix folder on my C drive also, i have combat command the matrix edition installed there it insists on being on the C drive to function. All my other Matrix games are installed on my D drive in another Matrix folder. It seems the updater and members update file download grabbed the C drive Matrix folder and installed it there even though there was nothing of FOG2 installed on the C drive. I got no choice of install locations. I first had to uninstall the FOG2 update on the C drive and change the Matrix folder name on the C drive and then reinstall the original FOG2 install over the top of the D drive install, then update it and i'm back in business. I strongly think this had something to do with the Windows creative update last week, as some of my shortcuts have been messed with.
Posting just in case this happens to anyone else.

Re: unable to update
I had a similar problem not being able to update to the newer version via the game. I have FOG2 on the D Drive as well. The download just didn't work. I then just downloaded the update from the download page, and then ran it from my PC and it updated fine to the D Drive.
But I have my games on a Windows XP computer and that may have been the problem.
I just posted this just in case others are running XP and have similar issues with a similar setup (ie, on XP or non-C Drive Installs). Other than that the game/downloads like new battles/even the Editor run without any difficulties on XP.

Re: unable to update
Just bought FoG II and can't update it either via the menu. It appears to start but then immediately stops responding. My Matrix Games folder is on my X: drive which is where FoG II is installed. Sounds like the FoG II updater needs to be fixed to recognize drives other than C:. I've updated many Matrix games and not had this problem. Will try to do a manual update.
Edit - I'm running Win7.
