Flanking Force stuck off map?

Post by Jace11 »

Hi, I was playing a campaign and a few turns before I won the battle I received the message "An enemy flanking force has arrived on the battlefield", but I couldn't see them anywhere, I'm not sure I noticed any change in the enemy's routed % either - but don't quote me on that!

At the end of the game I reviewed the field and found them way off map?

Is this normal? Also, I had no idea the game rendered a far larger play area than the map (one of my cav units is visible returning after a pursuit off-map) and moved units around the edge like this - would the flanking force have appeared somewhere "eventually"?

I've added a second screen, because the map was pretty confined, as you can see, with two groups of mountain tiles (1 very large) which may have blocked off possible map entry points perhaps?

It looks like they were unable to arrive because of the mountains. The scripts would have stopped them from arriving on the other flank because of the river. You can assume they got lost and never arrived.

Troops are not moved around off map, but are stored in the map border as temporary storage until they arrive. They should not be visible off the map - I guess that is a vagary of the new "Review Battlefield" code, which we will need to sort out.
