Mortality of generals

Post by Breogan »

I am surprised with the high mortality rate of generals in this game. I have seen more fallen generals (in both sides) than games played. And not only for being smashed by the enemy. I have seen a fallen general after winning 3-2 but the more outstanding was a general in a lancer unit charging against light infantry in open, winning 26-1 and fragmenting the javalinmen, but that lonely casualty killed the general! Is this normal or have I been very unlucky? In original FoG tabletop, and I think it was the same for pc, you had to suffer 2 hits (with 4 enemy attacks normally) and rolled 12 with 2D6 if you won the combat to lose the general. Generals died too, but it was not an easy thing... So, more or less, what is the probability of losing a general in combat? Is it independent of casualties or winning the combat? Anyway, thanks, because even with this mortality I am enjoying the game more than the original FoG!

The chance of a general being killed each time the test is made is a lot lower than in original FOG, but the test may be taken multiple times in a turn if the unit is in combat against multiple foes, and as there are no "hits" the 2-hit minimum is not present.

Overall, therefore the chances may be somewhat higher, but we do not feel they are excessive.

Do Troop Commanders, Field Commanders, and Great Commanders have the same chance of being killed in combat?
