Model Sizes

Post by Eques »

Hi

New to wargaming and modelling, although have a few plastic figures.

Wondered what was the more usual size for the miniatures, 15 or 28mm. 15 seems very small to me but that is the size that seems to be most available on the internet.

Thanks

Try to find and contact some local (to you) potential opponents. Discuss with them waht scale to use/buy/etc.

THAT said........15mm minies do seem to come in larger quanities for your money. Learning to paint smaller than 25/28mm is not too difficult (Smaller minies mean less area per minie to paint  ) Yes, you'll likely tend to use more minies/units of them in your armies.

I've been wargaming for 40 plus years. I have been using and collecting, 25/28mm minies for 35 plus years.....I have over 3,000, 25/28mm minies. My wife has put up with my collecting and gaming since day one. Lots of money in those minies and accessories.

If I was starting over, I would be buying/using 15mm minies and accessories. They cost less when buying units/minies. Less area is needed for games/battlefields......My regular LONG time opponents do feel the same way....Sooo do THEIR wives. We will stay in 25/28mm.

When I started ancients/medievals with FOG I decided early on to go with 15mm. The price is the biggest point, and frankly I can paint them faster as well. Also, almost anything you want is available in 15mm somewhere.
Later Carthaginians (853 pts)
Medieval Swedish (591 pts)
Later Achm'd Persian (424 pts)
