Whelp, looks like I'll just continue to enjoy FofG Episode I - no mac version, no sale.

Now that is a touch annoying. You see I have all of the FOG for Mac. Ok I accept that this is a PC version, and I accept that if it is only ever going to be PC then I will have to buy it. However the 'none is planned at present' does not convince me that there will not be a version in the future and that might mean me purchasing the same game twice over.

I also assume there is no concession for current FOG1 owners to buy this new version?

While situations can change, there is currently 0% chance of an OSX version. Also, we generally allow serials to be used cross platform anyway.

I'm sure you probably know this, but just in case you don't, OSX's Bootcamp allows you to install Windows on a mac. Apple have made the whole process very simple these days, and I've been doing this for over 10 years. It means you have to buy a copy of Windows, so you probably wouldn't do it for one game, but it opens up a whole world of software. Unlike running virtual machines, it runs like a native Windows machine and I've never had any significant problems with it. The only downside is that you need to reboot the machine to get into Windows as it is kept on a separate partition (that Bootcamp creates).

Also, if the game has a Mac and PC version, then the same Steam key works for both.
