Cohesion Testing if losing vs Lancers
I'm sure this has been anserred before but I can't find the thread.
If the lancers do not get their lance POA (ie vs steady spear in impact), do opponents still count the -1 on the CT test for losing vs lancers ?
Thanks,
Steve

Have you lost to lancers if they are a flanking/rear unit rather than the enemy to your front? If so do they have to cause at least one of the hits?

PG; May contain swearing Russian roulette bloody violence terror medical and regular gore distress horror (including guinea pigs) fantasy horror with scenes where characters are endangered by food and hard to categorise situations involving penguins.
As overlaps only count in melee and lancer only counts at impact this is moot. However if a BG of MF is fighting enemy foot frontally but mounted as an overlap then they would take the -1 for MF fighting mounted.bobm wrote:Have you lost to lancers if they are an overlapping unit rather than to your front? The lancers don't have to inflict any hits to mean that a BG was fighting them but obviously the other non lancers would have to inflict a fair number of hits to cause a test if the lancers all miss.
Thanks...I used overlap when I meant flanking, I edited the question but too late!!

Ahh, serves me right for answering too quicklybobm wrote:Thanks...I used overlap when I meant flanking, I edited the question but too late!!
If the lancers hit you in the flank then they are still lancers but in this case they are a lot more likely to force you to test and if they win by 2 you could well be testing at -4 (1HP3B, beaten by 2, lancers and disrupted because of the flank charge). Just like if you are in a wood or marsh, they are still lancers just lancers that don't get a POA so are far less likely to beat you.
...not trying to turn this into a marathon; honest!...but it did crop up last night. The unit lost to the foot that had charged its front. Lancers had charged into flank at same time but all "missed"......so had they lost to Lancers?

If you lose a combet you get the -1 for facing lancers regardless of whether or not the lancers beat you:
The rule states:

Any troops testing for having lost impact phase combat even partly against lancers**

specific enemy troop types applies whether or not these inflicted more hits on the battle group
than it inflicted on them.
