Anniversary Coupons

Post by TokyoDan »

You got to laugh at the Anniversary Coupons this tight wad company gives out. I got two for being a customer for 5 and 6 years. The discount is 18% and 21% respectively. No Thanks. I'll wait for a Steam Stale of at least 50%. And I sure won't have to wait 5 years or more. After 5 or 6 years one would think that they'd give at least a 50% discount.

If you're not happy with them, why not offer them to people who would be grateful to have even a 20% discount?

More you money you use bigger the coupon is... last for me was 32% if i dont remember bad and i buy my first matrix-slitherine... 10 years ago, is true that is not a big discount BUT the main problem with coupons is in the very limited time to use them.

I have a lot of luck and mine arrive in december or late november, this means i can use it with christmas special and i can buy for a very good price games that are out for one year or similar.

I prefer see coupons with a bigger use time window because 1 month is a little shit if you receive it outside specials time and yes, with this they are not specially good.

I'd agree with the sentiment of BiteNibbleChomp's post - though don't think it would be practical to actually transfer vouchers. Though I've been using Matrix/Slitherine for a much longer time I'm only officially listed for the voucher scheme on a much shorter timescale (I assume to do with forum registry or similar!) yet on half the time that TokyoDan states as member I have over twice the discount he lists - so I would agree that this likely represents a much lower purchase level, after all the scheme is to reward members / purchasers. I often chose to spend a little more to support this company (and therefore future games) and get a steam key rather than go for the bigger discount at a Steam sale with Slitherine getting a much lower income.

My main concern (unfortunately highlighted again this year for me as I miss a much wanted release by one day with my discount voucher!) is the point Scutarii makes. The small time window allowed is not very good at all and also massively favours those who are registered for times of the year when sales traditionally run - this makes a huge impact. I would much prefer smaller discounts with a longer window - can I even suggest a sliding scale e.g. 30% (or whatever you've earned) discount for one month then falling to half that (15% in my example) for a second month? I would make far more use of my vouchers if the window was more flexible as at present I either don't use them or end up feeling I've spent them on something for the sake of using them. For example I would make far more use of a discount that was half the level I currently get if it was a straight discount voucher with no time limit!

However, a discount is a discount when all is said and done.
