Considering skirmishers and eventually large units of archers (maybe on storm of arrows ... for the future... army list), considering that in P&S and SJ there is the "residual shooting phase" that is relevant for shooting units deploy; that is my question:
is there a residual shooting phase even on FOG2 or not?
Thanks in advance

Not as such. To streamline the game, and avoid issues with Undo, there is no reaction fire. Each side only shoots in its own turn, for roughly twice the damage. (The way cohesion tests is changed so that this does not increase the overall chance of disruption). Also there are ammunition rules, so the player may not wish his troops to shoot automatically.Adraeth wrote:Considering skirmishers and eventually large units of archers (maybe on storm of arrows ... for the future... army list), considering that in P&S and SJ there is the "residual shooting phase" that is relevant for shooting units deploy; that is my question:

Re: Question on rules: residual shooting phase
Other thing to have in mind is that in FOG II you have limitations to the fire units ammo... this means that like in other wargames, if you add reaction fire you could use non valuable units to made enemy waste ammo even when player is not shooting to reserve fire... add reaction fire for me force introduce ability to set units in no reaction fire mode.
PD: i am curious to see how are going to work the medium infantry bow-crossbow units... maybe they are going to have more ammo??? some interesting could be add these type of units (like in mixed heavy infantry) the reaction fire ability with no ammo use... but lets see.

Ammo rules? Could you elaborate.
Re: Question on rules: residual shooting phase
if i remember units attacks at full ammo for a given number of turns, maybe 5?, then they are considered depleting ammo, thus they can attack but they are not so good as at first strikesSearry wrote:Ammo rules? Could you elaborate.

Re: Question on rules: residual shooting phase
Correct. They have 5 turns of shooting at full effect, after that they are assumed to be scavenging ammunition from the battlefield, or sending men to get more, and only shoot at half effect.Adraeth wrote:if i remember units attacks at full ammo for a given number of turns, maybe 5?, then they are considered depleting ammo, thus they can attack but they are not so good as at first strikesSearry wrote:Ammo rules?
