Erik's Norway Scenario

Post by HobbesACW »

Hi folks, I was enjoying this scenario but then found myself in a bit of a pickle. I assume once you have captured a main objective you may as well abandon it. There is little value in keeping troops there to defend it as the objective will always be marked as achieved? Also I didn't realise that I would get such a large force of transport planes (with non parachute troops) so I didn't make taking airbases for them to land a priority. Should this not be hinted at in the scenario notes as the Germans would obviously know this in advance and plan for it? I did read up on the campaign but one is never sure how closely a scenario will follow the actual campaign.

A great scenario but I feel like starting again with the knowledge that I should have had at the start being part of the German high command.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the feedback.

Fixed objectives and added briefing.
Replaced various naval unit types with new proper ones.
Added (planned) Canadian invasion of Trondheim.

Thanks Erik. Does this mean objectives can now be lost? I just happened to notice in the version I was playing that Narvik was lost but I was still shown as having achieved the objective.

Chris
P.S. I thought about trying your Crete or Sealion scenarios. Is it OK to go ahead? The objective problem should not exist with them?

Yes, the objectives may now be lost and regained in Norway.

Se Lion was updated recently and should be OK.
There are several Crete versions floating about; at least one multiplayer and one single player. It has been awhile since these were updated. I normally depend on feedback from players to spot issues before I (hopefully) fix them...

In the Blitzkrieg 41-42 Campaign the large Crete scenario was broken down into 3 smaller scenarios; Iraklio, Maleme and Rethimnon.

I tried the Norway scenario again and can confirm Narvik can now be lost as an objective. I gave up the scenario however as there just seems to be wave after wave of Norwegian troops in the Oslo area and I was still fighting in that area after 20 days. The Germans captured Oslo in a day I think and then headed north a couple of days later.
Maybe I should have tried to take some of the troop mustering areas quicker? Not sure how though as many are north of Oslo.

Cheers,
Chris

You need to capture the mobilization centers as quickly as possible to prevent the spawning of additional Norwegian troops.

Historically many Norwegian senior commanders simply surrendered and mobilization was by letter not phone...
Not in this scenario :D
