Dailami

Post by kal5056 »

Anyone care to hypothesize on what the Dailami list will look like.
I see severl BG of MF Sup Offensive Spear with LF Bow support.
What do you guys think the mounted component will look like?
I woulod guess a Khurisanian Ally would bring a nice cache of Cav.

As I am playing the 3rd period in the January Team Tourney I am excitedly waiting the
release of "Fall" in just over 2 weeks.

Any Aussies that have "Fall" already I would appreciate any head's ups
you could offer.

More medium foot than you can poke a zupin at:
armoured or protected imact foot from memory either with or without bow support.

I think theres enough mounted available not to rely on an ally.

My first Arabo-Turk army on table will be Khurasani possibly with a Dailami ally but I think the internal foot is fine for swinging the door off a solid centre rather that the gaukrogeresque dailami-free swishing and swooshing with seljuks.

I think that this list may well end up being the very best in FoG. Dailami may well be the best terrain fighting troops in the game and I suspect they will hold their own in the open.

So, in answer to what the list will look like - VERY scary.

I field a unit of dailami as part of my Fatimid army, 6 MF with 3 LF as a 3rd rank. 3 games in a row they won the battle for me as I max out the terrain which impacts on the HF and knight armies more than the Fatimid’s.

One unit is good of MF is excellent, however a whole army made up of MF could be a problem as there is always more open terrain than closed on the table.

The natural army of the Dailami is the Dacian with its superior heavy weapon. Fits on equal footing with the Dailami but is cheaper base for base.

Principate Roman. They are good, its a single BG though so the comparison is a bit skewed imho, and the Dailami being "best in the game".. well i shun those kind of expressions.

I tend to prefer the Dailami BGs to be 8's - all MF and Armoured.

IMO one BG of MF in an army is not good, too easy for it to be outnumbered - the exception is in a theme, for example the swords and Scimitars book, where there is very little MF and so they do not run this risk.

A lot depends on the Impact phase where the Dailami are a PoA up. Of course the Dacians have a chance to exploit larger numbers.

Dailami sound like formidable troops for terrain to be sure, but flat out the best in terrain? If they are bought as protected, then they would be equal to Almughavars (superior drilled impact sword) and unable to use their sword against steady MF with offensive spear, or am I missing something here?

I am very much looking forward to seeing their list as soon as Amazon U.S. delivers my copy of Decline and Fall :D

Cheers,

Catalan v's Dailami:

At impact the dailami will be + the catalans -

Providing the catalans do not fail any CT caused by the impact they will be equal to the Dailami even if unprotected as the catalan get + for spear and the dailami + for armour, so no net POA. If both are protected the catalan would be on +. The catalan are more surviveable against mounted though.

But I'm talking about Catalan with spear here.
